The First of December

The First of December

The First of December
when you stood up
I will always remember
as history did interrupt.

You did accompany me
for Peace Film Festivals
to discuss in poetry
unifying three national carnivals.

The Koreans and Chinese
wanted what Japan caused
national public relations please
last May to applause.

I, as festival founder,
and Nina, as director,
made the UN  ponder
about becoming peace's protector.

Still, amidst politicians clear
none represented children rights
who needed a cheer
someone real and contrite.

So, I asked you
to come with me
to recite and review
about halting children's slavery.

I saw you struggle
to recite harsh words
stuttering your tongue muggled
each word we heard.

At the end, you
looked up in surprise
it was not dew
within all our eyes.

I still feel pride
you facing demons down
joy I cannot hide
for you didn't drown.

The First of December
Halt Slavery Day too
which I will remember
only because of you.

Author notes

Dear neice

November 30 2006, I invited you to attend as a representative of the founding charity of Global Peace Film Festival, Inc. to a private meeting, on December 1, 2006, with a reperesentative of China and of Korea who are my business partners in another deal. You did a great job of representing what Peace was about regarding protecting innocent children. Peace is not only a cessation of fighting and a way to get recognition from peace but the challenge to halt children and abuse for ever and ever. Amen. Thanks you did a great job.

I believe in stopping all scams against children.

    peace????

You have a nerve to post writes like this, when you are in the same sick category of the Muslim Extremists that attacked us on 9/11. Any religion that believes they will be rewarded in the afterlife by funding, and supporting terrorism, is a religion of the DEVIL HIMSELF!

~ its sad that it could ever be that way and Im glad someone stood up for them because children should never be subjected to that, I can gladly say that I love this poem.

    You.

You, are an amazing person...and an even more amazing writer. Sometimes, people forget what poetry is really about, It's about feeling, and granted sometimes poems don't rhyme, doesn't mean they didn't have emotions, that were just as strong as emotion poems with rythem and rhyme. Sometimes people just, put words together and hope they make a circumstance, you on the other hand, have done something far more better than that. That's amazing.

    Dear Mr. Ishtari
It’s always enjoyable to read poems of yours. I think you are the father of English rhyme. It’s a great ability you can bring/say everything in poem and rhyming poem. I myself can’t so I adore those who can including you, dear AT.
Politeness remands to appreciate you for penning another touching poem :-)

I am so proud with both of you

For Janet I am so happy, for you I am also very proud
because you show her how she can tell everything loud.
Her heart in a struggle, not for words, for situation,
she was afraid because she wasn't trained for vocation.
Your words as a story is so siple, everything's clear.
Thank you for this suniqe occasion, brother, my dear.

Great Women put their hearts out there

Our Janet is one of the Great Women of our day who use what's in their hearts to fix the woes of the world. She knows something terrible and has not shoved it aside, but holds it up for the world to see and acknowledge. That takes a brave heart, and Iohagh has that! A beautiful poem about our Janet!

I really like how you told this is a story type poem
I too didn't know Dec 1st was significant for these reasons so I too learned something...
And it is imperative that we must try and keep the children protective...
Penned perfectly and thank you for the link

Liked the flow and message of this poem - easy to read and understand what you have written here. Second verse, first line - did you mean you did accompany me or was it supposed to read you accompanied me? Good way to bring attention to this special day for abused kids.

A very interesting poem --- in fact, a very unusual choice to choose to write this in poetic form. It's consciously political and it might have been more obvious to write a kind of journalistic piece but this works better for being a poem, some how. I didn't know that December 1st was significant for these reasons so you've educated me!

    Cool

This was an interesting work; I like how you retold a story in a poem. And, please give your neice a big "Congradulations", she seems to deserve it ^.-. And thank you both for being invovled in such a wonderful thing. God Bless, Amen.

marvelous is she and proud we be!

Janet has found her future and it is she. For it is not simply coincidence she was born on December 25th.
