Most Wonderful Grandma

Dearest Mamo

Thank you for showing me the qualities of a Godly wife

Thank you for your encouragement in every area of my life

Thank you for the love that always shines through your smile

Thank you for always being there as I walk life’s hard mile

Your soul is full of serene peace and your laugh full of childish joy

Showing me how to walk the correct path since I was a little boy

Your eyes are made of diamonds and your heart is made of gold

Your love knows no ends, boundless as time, and courage so bold

So to you, my dearest Mamo, this is my little thank you note

For all the years that you have held my hand to keep me afloat

All the times you’ve been there next to me when I needed a hug

For all the times you cheered me up when I felt like a squashed bug

When I see you, see the smile on your face, I am reminded of our savior

How is it that when the world falls apart, you are still in the best behavior?

I love you because you simply are the most wonderful grandma on the earth

Caring, kind, loving, and sweet. Could any part of you ever be given a worth?

Author notes

This poem is written for and dedicated to my grandma, Barbara Williams. She has supported me, loved me, and befriended me. If I were ever a grandma () I'd want to be exactly like she is. By the way, Mamo is the name that all the grandchildren call her... just thought I'd put that in here.

I started writing this poem on September 1st and was trying to get it done for her birthday. Didn't get it done it time and forgot about it until now. I finished it, edited parts since I've improved on my poetry since September, and posted it here. I'll probably give this to her for Christmas.

Oh Tim! I just adore this one! The background and flowers are beautiful, but the words of love in memory of your grandma are heartwarming and wonderful more than I can say. I relate to this because it reminds so very much of my own sweet God fearing grandmother when she was alive. This was a nosalgic walk back in time that I really enjoyed, yet it made me sad all at the same time because she is not here for me to tell her how much she meant to me! Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece! Much love,
    A hoodwinking Frog~

Best of luck in this and all of your endeavors. Peg

As a grandmother myself I know how pleased your grandma must have been when she read this - a true gift from the heart. The best kind of gift to get- worth much more than diamonds and gold! To have such a young writer like you write like this is very encouraging. Love your new author page, by the way, and am looaking forward to see what others will enter in your contest. ;0)

A lovely tribute to a truly special person
    A lovely Chritmas present

I painted my Nana a picture of Venice, she always wanted to go but never got the chance

    Anyways, back to your poem
It had a flawless rhyme as usual, which was brilliantly used to make a great flow
    And a lovely feel
Put me in a lovely mood
And made me think of how much I love my granny

    She'll love it
    Well done

This was just SO sweet! I think she will love this. Such a great write. I loved the very opening line-"Thank you for showing me the qualities of a Godly wife" because it's just so true- we all look to our families to learn what to look for in our futures. Really a touching poem

    Very touching

The words for this piece were perfectly chosen and flowed into each as does clear blue water over a waterfall. I can identify with each word, for I had a grandmother, who I referred to as Gram, exactly like the one you discribed in you work. I started to cry as I read this poem. I lost my gram several years ago. You are blessed to still yours. Enjoy every moment you have with her. Keep writing the wonderful poems. This one is fantastic.

This is a wonderful tribute, Tim to your grandmother. I never had a grandma, but if I did, thisis exactly how I would want her to be and I pray that my grandkids will be able to say half the nice things about me that you have been able to say about your Mamo.~vj

You didn't have a grandma? Then where did your parents come from? Just kidding. I know what you mean.

Vickie, from what I know of you I'm sure there'll be more nice things to say about you as a grandma then could ever be put in a poem.

Thank you for your comment and applause

Melissa, you are always too sweet. Thank you so much I haven't really been giving much time to my favorites and reading others... had a lot to keep up on between school, church, work, and my other responsibilities on this site. I'm done with high school in less than 2 weeks now so once I'm done, I'll be commenting more, you can count on it
