So, we’re done,
We’re over,
Just like that,
No tears, no emotion
Just a “clean” break.
Do really think that we can part like that, mi columba?
Do you really think that after the love we shared, we can just say goodbye?
If you can, I’m glad for you
But what about my needs…
What about my wants?
What about this soul, mind, and body?
Does this love mean nothing?
Was it just a fling to you?
I have so many questions for you…
And so little answers.
I remember I once said that I’d be the wind beneath your wings,
That I’d lift you up when you would fall,
And that I would sustain you.
I know now that I wouldn’t have ever been able to do that,
To always and all ways be your knight in shining armor,
To keep you from falling off the wall and shattering again.
Some was purely my inability to do this,
Some was your inability to allow me to help.
So here.
I give you your freedom,
I remove my hand from your spirit
From your skin,
I relegate myself to the realms of acquaintanceship.
I just want to say,
I still love you,
I’ll always love you,
I’ll never forget our love.
