The Longing

The Longing

One day I was sitting on the beach.
Thinking to myself I would like to be able,
To have this peace that is here all the time.
You know that everyone needs one’s own place.
Where they can go to have some peace and quiet.

Well when I am sad and blue,
I like to go to the beach or to the riverbank.
I love to just sit and look upon the waves coming to shore.
Even more at sunset for then you can really,
See God’s glory in it.

Sometime I just get a longing for my homeland.
Which is Ireland where I have spent so much time.
My grandaa and I would sit on the banks of the river.
And he would tell me story of things passed.

And just to sit and be quiet and listen.
To nature sweet songs.
Then I can find such joy and peace,
To keep with in my soul.

If only I could find a way to give everyone,
This joy and peace.

hi rose, thank you for visiting my site.
this is another great poem,we all feel like that at times, with me i can go into my meditation room, lock the door, put on my music, take myself to where ever i want to go.it's magical.
like mike's your face has a lovely glow to it,your light shines through, your face seems familiar, even though i have not been overseas, sometimes you can meet or see someone and know you have seen them before, maybe in a past life we have met.in love and light

such lovely reminiscences, so beautifully expressed, Rose. this is the kind of poem that pinches the heart ever so slightly, and then leaves you with a tear in the corner of one eye and a smile upon the lips...sort of sweet and tart at the same time:)

    peaceful blessings to you:)

Rose this is wonderful! I so much agree we all need that place to go and ponder quietly. Your homeland sounds wonderful, so does your grandfather. My dad was a story teller too. Nice memories well written.
