Timed Legacies

Life is something people take for granted.
People think we will last forever
which is very silly on their part.
we aren't vampires in a story book,
and at the end of the story we'll live on.
infact its the opposite,
at the end of the story
our life's story,
the last words printed that is death.

sure there are people that will go on remembering,
but those memory fades,
and with that our legacy slowly fades.

no one remembers
the poets of the past.
only mentions in old dusty libraries
where the previous generations once
laughed and walked.

with time everything changes,
people move and wither away,
the memory of what they were
slowly fades away.

while the people who figured out who they were,
the poets of the past have done something spectacular.
they have left apart of themselves.
in the world of literature,
for the next generation to discover.

Author notes

This took about two days to create, and it has changed ideas.

i think its self-explainitory of the topic that its telling about. and i think its true just not for poetry, but for book authors as well as past music artist...

everyone has a timed legacy... we are mortal afterall.

Good write, very true.. In the heart of a writer, or eager readers, literary genius' such as Edgar and Charles are still alive with us today.. Alot of people dont comprehend the impact they both had on the literary world, but this is a nice poem, very beautifully written, good luck in my contest!
