Snow fall
wraps icy grip on the trees
holds them still for a season.
Birds dance branch to branch
looking sharp-eyed for the reason.
brittle-becoming
such starkness that befalls,
while green wears such drab mufflers
against snow-binding sprawls.
Blue dust of winter’s breath;
Earth’s chilled moan and sigh,
escapes in huffs and puffs
in frigid bye and bye.
Birds fluff out their feathers,
huddle hard on moon’s cold glow,
wing-tucked head refuses to see
what waits for this
fall snow.

As I sit here partaking the delight of reading this fine piece.I look to my right in this room chilly a bit.And see our cockateil Elvis poofed out with his head tucked beneath his wing sleeping. It's +8 here right now as a days high.I feel so bad for any of God's creatures outside.Brrrrrr!~Suseann

tks, Suseann
Youa re celbrating a bit of an annual thing here,a ren't you? I was jsut going through my lsits of poems and ntoes on the pages and pages of entries and information in AP and I had made note of a surgery.
I am so glad you come to visit and comment, gf. In this poem, I was playign with form as well as fulfilling the requirements for the contest. My imagination was simply popping with ideas from each title and I settled on this one. I am thinking there is another one I would like to write as well.
