to lubricate his neck
The metal bolt that holds it down
Is now a rusty wreck
He has a pet Alsatian
"Its not a wolf !", he said
A dog that howls at each full moon ?
When everyone's in bed…?
His grand-dad, 'Old man' Franklyn Stein
Has recently retired
His circuits have all melted now,
no time to get re-wired
The chauffeur only drives at night.
I've never seen his eyes
The fur that grows across his palms,
Is really some surprise
The cook, she dresses all in black
Her skin is grey and pale
She files her pointed, blood red teeth
Till they're as sharp as nails
The gardener keeps on digging graves
But no-one quite knows why
And if you ever ask him…
He'll simply just deny…
The lodger, that makes coffin lids
And lives down in the vaults,
will only wear white bandages
Its all his Mummy's fault
Transylvania's where they're from
Their daughter is a scream
She always keeps her cauldron hot,
her dungeon's full of steam
Her brother likes to comb his face
His mother doesn't care
As long as he shampoos it well
She says it shouldn't scare
The strangest neighbours in the land ?
Why do they live by me ?
Or are they only acting in…
The A d d a m 's f a m i l y….

I LOVED this write. It gave me a huge laugh when I first red it, and going through it again, I am just marlveing at your humor! I love that you were able to take the dark family that everyone knows, and give them even more of a personaliy. Well done, again!
I think that my fav verse is
His grand-dad, 'Old man' Franklyn Stein
Has recently retired
His circuits have all melted now,
no time to get re-wired
Its just so clever!

Hee, this is bloody brilliant! I rather enjoyed this, and my favorite part was the combing his face and making sure its shampooed. It made me laugh out loud, and that isn't something that happens much anymore.
Well done!

They're creepy and they're spooky
Love it Love it. The lodger who has his Mummy to blame for his bandages - that got me right in the funny bone. I just love the way you described every one in this creepy family. Rhyme was perfect, and couldn't help but smile/laugh right to the end - now I have the song in my head - you are about to be responsible for driving my colleagues nuts is afernoon :))

I'll be humming that darn song to myself all night, now! (...Dah duh duh dah, click, click...)
Well, WD, you have aptly captured the 'cookiness' of that family...but I thought Wales was full of them!
Well penned, well thought-out and well done! Bravo! Greatly enjoyed the ride, so many thanks.

You Rang....
The Adam's Family was ok but my favourite was the Munsters
Herman and some of his facial expressions really cracked me up .
Did you know there is actually a poet on this site that looks like Lurch? I would never tell her that ...a very pretty feminine Lurch though.
Perfectly executed with rhyme and flow as per your norm - enjoyed this!
