Take this life
Take it from her
Can't you see?
She's got nothing better
Her daddy is abusive
Her mommy doesn't care
Her brother has been dead now
For more than seven years
With no one to protect her
She knows nothing but the tears
That fall upon these pale bruised cheeks
And upon her teddy bear
Her hands shake from the nightmares
Only 10 years old
Nobody beleives her
When she tells them daddy hurts her
Nobody beleives her
When she tells them mommy hates her
Take this life
Take it from her
Can't you see?
She's got nothing better
Her daddy is abusive
Her mommy doesn't care
Her brother has been dead now
For a total of 13 years
With her own fists bruised and battered
From trying to fight back
She's hiding in the closet
Only 16 years of age
Her mommy's in the bathroom
Throwing up her drink
Her daddy's in the bedroom
Looking at the handprint on his face
From where his daughter slapped him
When she was trying to get away
And everybody's questioning
The bruises on her face
But she promised she wouldn't tell anyone
Because she doesn't want to die
But as she hears the footsteps on the floor
She knows that it's her time
Take this life
Take it from her
Can't you see?
She's got nothing better
Her daddy is a killer
Her mommy is a drunk
And nobody beleived it
Until they saw him in his cuffs
He took her life
He took it from her
Can't you see?
It's for the better.

this was a great piece. i liked how you aged the girl and how she started to fight back, but my favorite part was the ending. even though she dies the reader knows that the abuse is over and i really like that. keep up the great work. i would like to thank you for entering my contest and i wish you luck .
