Thankful

Why you did what you did
I may never understand
When others ran and hid
You spread out your hand

When all of the beating was done
Your love, you could never hide
When they had thought they won
You knew the truth inside

One day tears would be of joy
Instead of weeping sorrow
When triumph of their ploy
Only His victory would grow

I thank you for the sacrifice
The love you died for
That love that would always entice
Forever seeking more

Beauty can be shown by giving
He gave His love and life
Thankful that He is lastly forgiving

Author notes

Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development,
invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.

~ Edgar Allen Poe

    lovely poem

Nicely written, lovely poem,I do agree we will never really understand why he did what he did,but it seems we have over the years gone from being thankful for what he did for us,to taking advantage of what he did for us,thank you for the read, best wishes---Norman
