With broken wings I try to fly
Black feathers fall slowly, begin to die
This is the essence of LOVE
Cracked glass, shakes and crumbles
Shards of crystal flail and tumble
This is the essence of LOVE
Broken! Beated!
Ripped to shreads, raped, mistreated
This is the essence of LOVE
Fading, falling fast asleep
In pools of WATER that I've weeped
Swimming in the tears I've cried
Living with joy, is living a lie
This is the essence of LOVE
Fear makes everybody go insane
Lost souls cry out in pain
Screaming, falling looking for LOVE
Forgetting, forsaking the gifts from above
This is the essence of LOVE
Hold me close my dear...
...Tell me that you are near...
I will not cry no more for you...
...You know what you must do...
Living a lie, I want to beleive...
...That one day you'll be with me...
And in the end my heart will sigh:
"The essence of LOVE, Is just a lie..."

How can we truly believe in love when love destroys us? Sometimes I wonder if it is just a word too, but unfortunately I have very strong feelings for someone that wont budge, so I can't be a hypocrite.

This is a very well written poem. It's moving, and it's thought provoking. Usually I think that repitition takes away from a poems effect, but it really worked here. Keep up the good work, I look forward to reading more. ~*~Heather~*~
