Reed Mats

We lie against each other, shoulder to hip,
spread along the reed mats
we have stretched upon the floor.
Your arms stretch slowly towards me,
and your muscles flex and loosen
as they mold themselves to my belly.

I breathe the sigh into the skin of your chest,
warm and beating and soft to my lips.
Your foot teases mine and our ankles twine.
The rustle of the reed mats colours
the friction of our bodies, adding
an earthy, reedy tune to our union.

The kiss is an afterthought as your tongue
trails beads of sweat down my leg.
The reed mats are cool to the skin of my thighs and back.
I look up briefly at the curtains,
covering the silver slice of moon framed by the window.
The curtains hover over me like clouds,
and my neck arches up to taste the air.
But you are quick to leap into the dip of my throat
and cover me in the deep dark sweetness of your kisses.

Author notes

Don't ask me about this. It's just catharsis after an exhausting day at school.

How can I further improve the structure of this poem?
