Reminiscence Whilst Waiting for God

Years past that I embraced
Childhood memories  un-erased
Now I see a weak smile upon your face
And thank God for you being MY mom.

Remember the days when we had no food
And you chastised me often for being rude
A respectful foundation you did infuse
A result of you being MY mom.

Growing up I spent hours in the library
Where you worked captivatingly
And knowledge I still search with no boundary
I feel honoured that you are MY mom

And now in your twilight years
Sometimes it is hard for me to hold back the tears
As you wait for God without any fears
Believe me, I LOVE YOU MOM.

Please tell me what you think

A beautiful tribute to your mummy, she sounds like a fantastic person. The complexity of the language used here doesn't sound like jargon as often it does when more experienced poets write. Its lovely and tender and the title is also beautiful, Great write.

This is a very sweet poem, and you have written it so well! What a loving tribute to your Mom. Your rhyme is so well, and your poem flows as soft as your feelings throughout the poem.

Tears rolled down my face my friend as I read this poem. Fear not, she is going to a gentle place that will take her. I think dying is more harder for the living ones we leave behind. I feel for you my friend, never easy to loose someone close that you love so dearly. My prayers are with you...god be with you! Babs'..Love Sie

This is a very touching poem Barb, one that which anyone can relate to when reminiscent of their childhood, seeing my parents in their 'twilight years' is not something that I look forward to at all. I am blessed with two of the most beautiful parents anyone could hope for, and will cherish my memories of them now and forever...

Thanks for sharing, and reminding us to cherish every moment with them we have

    Take care,
    Mareta

I see the first three lines of each verse rhyme which is a nice way to pull this all together. Also, each fourth line is a variation of the other, but each ending with Mom. I like this scheme. The message is one we can all relate to, that of not appreciating our moms and the things they go through raising us until we are older and can really see the love and devotion that was and is in their hearts. Very heartwarming and a good composition. God bless, Lora
