Your Child

Mommy, will you play with me?
Mommy, come look and see!
Mommy, I want you to play too.
Mommy, I love you.

Why do you ignore these children’s remarks?
Why do you leave an innocent child in the dark?
Children need love and affection,
They need your guidance and most of all direction.

What would you do if your child lost their way?
Would you then have something to say?
What would you do if they blamed it on you?
Would you realize that there’s a chance they speak the truth?

How can you possible be so cruel?
How can you live with calling your child a fool?
Do you realize that words also hurt?
Do you know those words make your child feel less than dirt?

This is just a reminder to you,
That your children want you in their lives too.
So take the time to listen and love,
And your relationship with your child will soar above.

    Well done!

This is an excellent reflection of the poem selected and gives a very important message! Well penned poet! One correction:

How can you possible be so cruel?

    should be:

How can you possibly be so cruel?

    Good luck!

    excellent

dear I have nothing negative to say about this piece, you took my work and penned an awesome response to it. I would love it if you gave me the permission to add this to my poem page that inspired it (giving you credit of course). It is always an honor to know that something you have written was interpretted as you wrote it, you in fact have done just that and thus the call to stop non visible child abuse continues through your words. Thank you dear for speaking out on childrens behalf. I also thank you for giving me the honor of choosing one of my pieces to use for this contest, that warms my heart in a way I can't express.

    I loved this one dear!

well I'm glad you feel my piece was a good response and of course you have my permission to do with this piece as you please. Thank you for writing what you did first because children need to be heard more often and things like this is unnaceptable in society.

    I heard

This is powerful in its message to others, how a parent can influence the way a child behaves and becomes when they are grown to adulthood. I do not have a child but I hope your words make some Mother's rethink their job. Thank you for sharing.
