There is something to be said
of stretching spread-eagle across a sky
of dreams..
but then…
the loneliest feeling is not bumping into
a foot
an arm
a cheek
There is something to be said
of quiet sleep, undisturbed
by another’s hum
but then…
the most dreadful silence is
hearing nothing
but…
your own breath
in an empty room
there is something to be said
of curling against a warm back
to an arm gently sliding across
to hold you in a rocking
that come from sailing on double-dream...
of two, becoming one
in inhaling and exhaling
love’s slumber and the echoed
drum of dearness of another’s heart.

All we can say is, Tim was VERY torn between all the finalists - the final decision was left up to us! (Thank God, he insisted we remain anonymous!)
Please refer to the contest page final comments for criteria and final notes.
He will be creating a new contest page today. Initially, in our final notes, we said the top winners and ALL ON FINALISTS LIST, would be reserved a place in the final round...which you are, no matter what. But, Tim had a change of mind and felt that you should also receive a personal invite to the next round as well. (An insider for you: the next round is "Erotica") - he is allowing pre-writes for the first half of the contest and the last half reserved for new writes, as he had so many requests for new writes before. That beings said, you can submit a fresh write at anytime.
The contest page will be up later today - remember to check Tim's author page later today: http://allpoetry.com/Lionslove
Again...CONGRATULATIONS ON A MOST EXCELLENT WRITE!!!

This is really well written! The somewhat jerky flow seemed off at first, to me, but upon finishing it, it seemed to fit quite well. I liked the way the specific topic of the poem was not actually revealed until the last part. I got a good feeling from this one.

And, I must say, congratulations to Wanda and Mark! (Even if I don't actually know them ^^; ).
All the best with the contest!

You have so perfectly described the lonliness of going to sleep without someone by your side. I honestly think it made my heart slow down while reading it, recongnizing how close to home this hits for me. Everything from your word choices, to turns of phrase, to descriptions are just...awesome. There is sadness, but also beauty. Good luck with this wonderful poem. I hope you do well in the contest with it.
Best wishes,
~J.

Lovely

Such a wonderful tribute, Carol. Thank you so much for penning your lovely words...a poem from your heart to ours! Once again, I'm beside myself, searching for words that can't express my gratitude. You're a lovely being. ~Mark

WONDROUS WORDS
"becoming one in inhaling and exhaling love’s slumber and the echoed drum of dearness of another’s heart."
Sighhh...Ahhh, my Sister of the Sacred Spirit...How beautiful this is, Carol...& how very grand of you to pen it, my dear Friend...I know you understand quite well the depths of loneliness & devotion...& how very dear it is to hear a loved one's snoring in the night...To be able to reach out & touch someone who cares...Ohhh, it is a longing that becomes nearly unbearable...but as I've said, I've been holding out for a hero...& it seems as though I might have actually found one...Thank you so much for the immense rooms of your heart, Sweet Lady...You understand me so well...
Wanda

you've shown pros and cons of lovers being together and apart and in the end, closeness wins

long distances are no fun, whether they be physical or emotional.
just wonderful all the way around
