I Have Seen Your Voice-Silver

Missing image

I Have Seen The Colors Of Your Arrow

Thor, I have seen your voice
in the lightning’s sharp yellow arc
coloring the sky of this misplaced shore.
Your colors weep, and weep well,
on gasping beaches, paled
by our movement here.
Your bow, drawn back until it pings,
sends a screeching arrow into the night;
A Nation blanches at the sound,
Oh, Lord, a Nation’s cry
rises up from the muddied blend
of mouths filled with black debris
huffed against their halted lies.
Your black eyes swallow tallest structures
as you wail around the walls
and the hungry, and the destitute
are all painted with the same brush.

Lifting bodies with white shrouds of quiet hush,
old people are carried to the mountains
where no rainbow has led the way
and where no sea breeze can blue their feet.
The cup sloshes with blue tears
left after hated hurricane’s steely breath,
taking brothers, sisters, their babies
to your bleached bone sigh.

Oh, Thor, right this overturned cup
of red stained spitting cursing,
drop your hand from your bow
and hum allegiance to our weathered flag
who have learned the hum and woe of grief.
Rise, angels, tip the golden stones
in chinking silence, stone by stone,
to pave a glinting path of hope.
Your voice chants tones of teaching
to the song of you bow.  Dislodge this gray lump
of sorrow to sit on the hammock under
your quiet lullaby of rising good
that comes under the silent shield of a quiet sky.

Author notes

3) Paint the Wind.

There is evidence Thor's Bow has been taut and the arrow has visited in brilliant color.

Wow... I'm just speechless. There is so much flow here, this is probably the best poem for flow I have ever read. I love the few alliterations I found, and I love the way you described this so wonderfully. 3 applauds to you, you did a great poem! Keep penning and good luck. Thanks for entering and following the rules!

    WOW!

Okay, so where do I apply to be the next Thor? My bow shoots really straight. I think the only thing stronger than your convictions is your mighty pen/sword. The language and phrasing here made me want to stand up and cheer. Not enough people like your protagonist left.
I nominate you for Thor, and would carry your standard high.
    Peace

Rob, such a compliment from someone whose writing I so admire. Sometimes something grabs me and the message is deep to me. I try to get that across the length of inspiration to ink. I have reworked this poem a dozen times. It will have to stand as it does. I do appreciate your comments and your applause.

      Hey

I jsut discovered something new...I can rate comments. And if I had known, I would have rated more.

I am trying to change the voice in my writing a bit and it is difficult. I will probably waffle for a bit, but there is that voice that speaks in deeper metaphors. I do not want my poetry to become so ridiculously hidden it would take thor to get it... but I do wish to have deeper writing.

As always, thank you, my friend, and may we explore each other's writing for a long long time.
