Of a fair day
I wandered the lea
in search of light,
in seach of love or
a gift of poetry.
I happened upon
a rock to sit,
and gaze upon
swirling eddies
and dream a bit.
A raft meandered by
loaded down with men.
They hipped and hoorahed,
dipped around the bend.
Floating round a swirl
a single rose of red.
I reached out to grab
and fell in over head.
'Aye, Miss, never
meant a bit of harm.
To send a wee flower,
a gift to you, a charm.'
As he approached
me soaking wet,
never a finer
river god I'd met.
He swooshed me up
into his arms strong.
I fell in love,
to him I will belong.
Can love happen
in the blink of an eye?
It can only happen
if your heart is true
and you give it a try.

I love this... It is like a folk song -- I can hear it and it gives a great, spirited portrait of old fashioned courting

The windows of the soul.
Every thing we are, is within the eyes, and the depths to drown within is there also. And I for one believe in love at first sight. Even if I drown and never come up for air.
Beautiful verse form a heart that wishes to only ever drown.

He flew his plane over to my neck of the woods, and says:
love, let us surround ourselves in the depths of its deep waters, never surface from it. sigh...

Sappy?
'Tis sappy indeed, but also beautiful. You have a masterpiece on your hands here is very elegant and wonderful. I especially enjoyed that last stanza.
There is nothing I could pick out wrong about this at all

A nice tale told quite well and tenderly. Swept up in love in the instance of a blink. Very sweet and gentle. Great job, best wishes to you in the contest.

Hey Mouser!
So nice to see you over my way.
I like your picture.
Reminds me of Charles Bronson.
Rugged and handsome and charming...
ok, that's enough 'cause do not want
any trouble with you two lovebirds.

Thank you for the sweet review.
Cheers!

beautifully written
Ahh..such a beautiful tale that was spun...the question was asked can love happen in a blink of an eye...you better believe it can...for that is what see each and every day...the key is when you can hold that blink...and the photograph of the mind holds that thought and picture...that is when the 2nd blink reveals a wee bit more...awesome write...@<--< smile and hugs...love, David

Blushes ear to ear
You have me batting my eyelashes and blushing
hues of carmine and cherise...
a sweet kiss I bestow blown off the fair tips of this maidens delicate hands... -
-
A kiss which a knight captures and cherishes...a special kiss that warms the heart & soul there
