Before the Clock Strike, The First Hour

These songs that long to dance, wild with the wind
splashing all the dust from nooks and crannies,
tossing back windows and letting the light breathe.

Rooms grown small from being filled with life
clasp at the waist and wrist begging for more
until the walls have bars and the doors locked down.

Leap upon the back of a breeze and stir its memories
of hurricane winds. Then, when the force of the dreams
has filled the air and no thread of hair is any longer tucked in,
stride across the face of the earth tasting all of its delights.
Ride the wild and smile a wide grin because the pleasure
of adventure and life are about to begin. Free to fly from
pleasure to delight, explore the curious and be tender with the night;
catch the child about to fall, tickle the old woman all bent and small,
swirl around the man with his silly dreams as you play
your eyes across the sights and sigh before you stand tall.

The fields and rivers are one side of the moon;
the cities and towns beckon with tales of renown.
The fetching prince with his eyes of silken dreams;
the glory of feasting on adventures yet to be crooned.
The world is waiting and you are ready to fly.

Soar on the wind and may the oceans run strong
you will surf and glide. Let your joy be a river.
Share richly from your souls broad cloth.
Remember the ones who love you for they shall be your beacons
should you ever feel lost. Drink deep of all this wine
called life. Fill yourself from every adventure and dream.
Then, when the time comes to create your web of tales
to write and regale you will be an endless fount of life
that people will give willingly to hear you write.

When you create, Create with all of yourself. Do not hold back. You will learn technique, but the most important ingredient is allowing yourself to learn to fly. the rest of the poem speaks for itself and you have heard it well. Use it and keep soaring.
      Love Tom B.

    Amazing

You have such a way with words and inference. This was great. I hope she does read this at some point and maybe takes some of this beautiful urging you have written about. There was so much in here that reminded me when I was on that verge of tasting all life had to offer. I love the below line.

"Ride the wild and smile a wide grin because the pleasure of adventure and life are about to begin."

Life is always going to suprise

thank you for all the compliments. The joy in this, is that I didn't realize what I had written till after I had written it. This is such a suprising (for me) invitation to spread ones wings, come alive and write, that it caught me of guard. Am I happy with the result? Of course I am. I am even happier at being able to share this with everyone and have them delight in it.
      Love, Tom B.

A toast! A kiss and tomorrow we dance

This was to cheer on a young poet. I may not be wise but I have learned a little in my bumper car style of living. I will carry you on the wings of my dreams, toast you with wines of delights by oceans with rich deep moons and sing you songs as the wave sings countpoint. Hush! Breathe in the salt air. Hear the salt grass rustle with foot steps. Feel the wind at your back and the warmth of a soul by your side.
      Love, Tom B.

Now that the holidays are upon us and the insanity of seasonal bliss is stressing its way into the public mind, I will be working my tail off at Home Depot designing kitchens. Thanks for taking the time to read and you know I always think of you. Love, Tom B.

Wonderfully strong write. As I read I saw life pass me by for all the time I waste on petty emotional anger. Thank you for your inspiring words I claim them in my blackened heart.

    Sincerely,

      Aw shucks, Ma'am.

This life we have is shorter than we know. I am here only as a blessing, haveing danced to close to death's door more than once. Most events are about the experiencing not the endings and joy is richer than giggle of happiness at getting the car you want. Take a spin on my heart felt world. It isn't all wonderful and glad. Still I think you'll find the sensuous celebrations that has grown stronger and stronger in my work, might be able to create more shades tints and colors and in that morbid heart. Love, Tom B.

    A wonderful de-stresser!

    Hi Tom,

Ah...I felt somehow cleansed after reading this lovely piece ~ thanks for that! Modern life is so crammed with pressure and deadlines and demands that we don't get the release our spirits need to 'fly'. I think I just did for the few prescious moments I spent reading your poem. (She makes a mental note to read more of his stuff).

Anyway, bless your talented pen! Write on, Sir.

      You'll make me blush

Wonderful comment. I like to let my language and spirit take flight at times just because gravity needs to be disputed on occasion. That this could persuade you to read more of my writing makes me feel particularly complimented. (I must be careful, I might start developing and ego. Gawd! what a sin.) I shall have to come over for a visit and practice my reading skills and leave a juicy comment. Love, Tom B.

This is a very nice piece,I like the way you have decreased the pressure of words and meaning slowly toward the end up to your conclusion which is the reason why this poem has been written "people will give willingly to hear you write."
an as well I just love this line (so true)
"Rooms grown small from being filled with life"
    Very good. Doomday.

      Delighted

This for me is a celebration of someones poem I wrote, a bit of advice from an older poet to a younger one he respects and a little bit of fancy free imagination. Thanks for finding things you could love. For what more could a writer ask? Love, Tom B.

I think your advice at the end "Fill yourself from every adventure and dream.
Then, when the time comes to create your web of tales
to write and regale you will be an endless fount of life"
is exactly what can give a writer some fuel, for expression. Doomday

    Inspirational

You have some incredible lines in this write. I found my eyes reverting back to them periodically. I really found pleasure in reading this...I loved how the room grew small as it was being filled with life. How great is that and those that love us being our beacons. Lots of small messages reaching out and grabbing us! Wonderful work! ~Tia

      too nice

I am glad this touched you so. It is my gift to a young poet and I hope it moves her to be stronger and greater in all that she does. So many would steal our dreams. I just wanted to create a map and show another way. Love, Tom B.

Oh. This is a really nice little poem that you have here! I like this! It's a whole story about the wind and you follow it from where you first noticed it all though it touching all these peoples lives in different ways. So it's like your saying that it has such an impact on others. Lestways, that's how it read to me. I think that you have done a good job of expressing yourself.

      Creativity

We grow and dream and follow the wind. We change and permutate and never seem to end up where we planed. Thanks for the charming review. Yes inspiration and art are the wind in our lives, the breath we breathe. Love, Tom B.
