Every Pedal on the Delicate Rose Lives

The gardener had the neighbors envy –

Vivid green foliage in his meadow

And every color the eye could see

Breath taking for anyone who passed –

All year long the scenery would last

The rose bush was his prize possession

Taking care of it well more than the others –

Even though his garden was like a brother

This one bad an unspeakable bond

No one could understand

His love for the rose

But they knew

He loved it so

Then one day the rose bush began to wither

The pedals down, the leaves brown

The neighbors envy turned to laughter

Because his love for the bush stayed true –

He did everything in his might to revive it to its old state

But not one red pedal came in sight

And he feared that the rose bush he deared –

Would never return

When hope seemed to be lost forever

A glorious red pedal appeared,

As fast as the rose bush had died

Its former beauty had returned –

The rose bush was fully revived

Once again the neighbors envy

The gardener appreciates its beauty

For he knows what he had almost lost –

And he will hold on now no matter what cost

This is a beautiful piece. I liked the third and second last stanzas the best. The rose bush petals growing seemed metaphorical, like how in life people may feel as though all hope is lost until something happens in the future that gives them a sense of renewed hope in life. Congrats on the honorable trophy.

    Wow!

Yes this was great, exactly what I wanted in this category, it was perfectly done and fit evenly. You did a great job with imagery, and I really enjoyed reading it, and as always please keep writing. This poem was great, I like how you wrote it too, I wasn't sure at first with the spacing but it really works - am I correct in assuming you're using the rose bush as a metaphor for humans? As in someone who was already pretty finding they are beautiful, even though others believe they are not. I may be reading into it, but in any case great job (perhaps a lover looking at the person *shrugs*).

Great write. I adore the loving bond that seems to stay with the gardener no matter what comes to happen to the bush. You have a gift.

The words you write here are beautiful and the imagery is almost perfect. I can just about imagine it in my head like a movie. The topic of this poem is also a little bit of a favorite of mine. Roses such a simple flower but with a complex secret. How can such a small thing hold the beauty of heaven itself. (my opinion.) This poem is amazing and I loved it. Such a great write. You really are a talented poet.

    Fantastic!

This is beautiful. Almost prophetic. Yes many envy love when they look at it from afar, it takes much work and patience for love...true love to thrive!
