Waking Up

For all the nights spent
Contemplating with myself,
Deciding what to do,
How to deal,

I've never felt so distant,
Tossing and turning too many times,
With my eyes wide shut,
Pretending it wasn't real.

For all the stupid ideas
That I've ever had,
Or all the really great ones,
That I never dared to share,

I've wasted way too much time
Thinking about myself,
How to make me look, when for you
I should have had that time to spare.

I'm so sorry,
I never meant for anyone to get hurt.
But I've learned from my mistakes,
And I'm coming to life again, waking up.

It used to be that the mornings
Felt like another wasted day
That I watched pass by night,
Observed from behind a distant tree.

But all of that's changed,
I' brand new,
I saw the light from under my blankets,
And I'm back for good, waking up, you see.

    Hi beautiful,I like this write because there are times in all of our lives that we seem to think only of ourselves and feel very selfish about it,but,trust in yourself.It has taken on a negative conotation of being selfish or thinking only of us.These are not negatives at all,God said"To thine own self be true".If we are not allowed to be who and whatever we are,then we are deminished by those who are not qualified to judge us in the first.Too often it happends that others will expect us to do what they say,because they themselves are inferior to what ever causes them to feel supirior in the first place.When we do something for ourself,we are to be proud,not shameful at all.We must learn that God is first,Us secondly,and then everything else last,for nothing is worth more than God and us.All other issues can wait,and usually while we're waiting,it takes care of itself.My love to you,Don.This is a very good write,enjoyed it emencely.
