We will never forget
We will never forget
We will never forget
But when will we ever learn?
Millions of my people mass murdered
In not so many days gone by
A tragedy of global impact
An atrocity in most’s eyes
But we ignore the lessons
And genocide resounds
The cruelty of human to human
Still knows no bounds
Lack of respect for life
And absence of human acknowledgement
Creates a foundation where brutality
Is acceptable and love is non-existent
One would think that those who are enlightened
Would learn from tragedies past
And would intervene
On the persecuted’s behalf
But yet again
We sit idly by
And allow genocide to continue
And more to die

I have read Night, and I was moved to pieces. To think that a boy, who was my age when I read it, had to suffer the atrocity of the death camps, and then have to face the widespread idea that the Holocaust was just a scare-tactic, thought up by powerhungry politicians? That was when I began trying to shine more light on genocide. That moment, when I read that first chapter, that first page, was when my entire line of thinking changed. I love your poem. When indeed will we learn? When a million more people are killed? An acquaintance of mine here, SoS, said to me, "We're the future -- and the present! If we can help end this, who knows what we can also do? Every generation has it's title. The JFK generation, Children of the 20's, what will ours be? 'The ones who let 2 million people die before finally doing something?'"
Thank you for entering this contest, for writing your poem. It's really sad, to me, that out of the hundred and change views I've had on that contest page I only have less than ten posted poems. Thanks for helping me bring more attention to this horrible crime. Thank you.

Night is an incredible book. Very, very depressing, but incredible nontheless.
This write is amazing, as well. I have often wondered why so many people who claim thier intelligence, enlightenment, caring and love... can just sit by and let fights go on. And it is going on, even today. The war in the middle east can EASILY be called genocidical (I think I just made a word up
).
The National Holocaust Museum is a great place to go to learn about past faults. And hopefully someday we will learn from that, and act on it.
I wish you the best of luck in my contest.
Peace and love

Thanks so much for entering. I appreciate the write, which I liked alot. I am impressed by the specific topic you chose, taking a subject many are using, one step further. Pretty good rhyme and flow as well. Best wishes
