the philosophical risk

do only humankind possess blessing,
or curse,
the ability to look beyond ourselves
and ask,
why?
my friend;
my enquiring mind,
what if there is nothing,
beyond ourselves
to find?

tis my greatest fear,
ignorance be bliss,
for there may be no more to us
than this.
no more
than what we see,
this senseless world,
mere sensory

we may spend a lifetime searching
just to realise,
nothing was to be believed,
nought beyond our eyes

Your rhyme could have been more formal I mean, since it is a rhyme alone contest, it could have been trimmed. But the poem by itself, stands alone, mystical and beautiful

    Wisdoms tic!

This to me was very much wisdom tic……guess it should relate to the tao I have a writing about ignorance and bliss…….it says….if ignorance is bliss?….why am I bewildered?…….lol…..guess Abe Lincoln is laughing at my wit…..and my wisdom tic too…..J lol…..also…to the inquiring mind….something’s are better left unknown…..after all……which came first…..the chicken or the egg?……not that anyone can truly answer that without getting in to theology and evolution…ha ha…love where you brought my thoughts……loving it….

Terrific philosophical write. I wonder if the human ability to act why is part of the reason so many feel the need to answer everythings and too often judge on a sole facet of a diamond as to how beautiful it is. Great write. s and best wishes... ~Genie~

We see with our eyes and our hearts. They sometimes are seeing differently. It can leave you wondering just what is real. Good luck in the contest.

    thoughtprovoking

thank your for a very thoughtprovoking and deeply philosophical write. indeed, when we close our eyes and let the mind fade, nothing can be found ... yet this nothingness doesn't feel empty at all, and the peace felt reassures us of the validity of our experience.
thank you so much for your precious contribution.

    Introspective

I have had my moments of feeling this way, but the more I sought the more I found and surprisingly, the realm of science has some pretty reasuring epiphanies, like the fact that energy never ceases to exist, it merely takes another form. Matter is composed of pure energy (google "quark")that's organised to appear as matter. There's a phenomena called Electronic Voice Phenomena, commonly refered to as EVP (google EVP) and the things it reveals make it pretty hard to doubt that our existance continues after death. Anyway, this was very thought provoking. Well done! I have an entry in this contest too, and since I'm a bit late entering, I hope everyone gets a chance to read it before voting! LOL! so here's a link:

Wow, a thought beyond the "today" and the "now"... that's what I got out of this poem, and actually what I think about a lot. We all have a purpose in life, we just need to figure out what that purpose is... then, depending on the choices we make, we will create either bliss or havoc. Nice job.

Thank you Eoz for your entry This is a piece to set the reader wondering,do our eyes lie. Perhaps we need to be blind to truly see things for what they are and not what we imagine them to be Good luck in the contest
