blessed with fortitude more than most.
Erect and regal she appears,
yet rooted there perhaps for years.
Enthroned before a glowing screen,
fingers blur the keyboard lean.
Listen, it is as the sound of mice
feasting upon their corn and rice, What rapture!
Ruler of worlds I've never seen
deftly moves from screen to screen.
Rapid in succcession her commands do flow,
hard drive hastens not to be slow. It struggles!
Printer captures images, sheets
produces them both quickly, neat. Awaiting approval,
not long to wait, most of them she simply hates
and has them done again, once more,
while rejects lay littered upon the floor.
A brief pause for drink or toast,
respite for machine and host. They catch up!
Then the cycle begins again,
such treatment is not recieved from men.
Commands and keystrokes bluringly flow;
her name I've not yet mentioned though.
She is .... the "Mac mini" Queen
and this is her domain.
Author notes
I awoke this morning to find my wife working again on a personal project and the first two lines came to mind.
She is very quick on the keyboard and the sound the keys make as she flies across the board reminds me of occupied mice. Our computer is a Mac mini and quick, but, not quick enough as it sorts through a backlog of tasks. Printer does it's job well, but has to deal with a lot of quality issues stemming from varying pixels etc. Keyboard .. well it was a good price (alright cheap!) and hence in verse "keyboard mean".
*** I have now revised this to read "the keyboard lean" instead of "the keyboard mean" as I realize few people of our time may be familiar with 'mean' in that context.***
"such treatment is not recieved from men." My own computer is a 'dinosaur' (uses DOS) and I am a painfully slow typist. At least such is the feedback I receive from those who observe my efforts.
She so loves her Mac mini, but it has trouble keeping up with commands issued by the"Mac mini Queen"!
If it didn't overly make sense as you read, try reading it quickly as that is how it came to me, in frantic bursts.
Please tell me what you think

Funny, funny, funny. I can just picture my Mom and her "beloved" computer that she guards from others. This was described perfectly and humorously.

Well done!
I don't think I will ever get use to your variety of subject for poetry, the slightest movement of the earth seems to set you off!

I liked this poem a lot when I read it through the first time. I could follow most of it, but there were a few parts that were shadowed out in my mind. Then when I read it again after taking the meanings behind your author comments, it made it all come more clear. It made me laugh...I'm by far the fastest typist in my family, which is a good thing since I'm going to get a job which will involve me having to be fast, so everybody thinks it's so amusing how I can "fly over the keyboard". lol. I liked how you had a lot of personal ideas in there...personal, but in a way that others will strongly relate.
Very nice.

Thank you superstition. I am sure I know which parts were "shadowed out" I debated using a word like 'mean' . Perhaps I read too much medieval literature when I use words in that way.
Anyway glad you liked it and were able to sort it out. Good luck on 'flying' through your new job Jadon

Kudos to the Mac Mini Queen
This gave me a smile! I imagined her sitting there as I do having at it while my hubby looks on in blissful ignorance. He is not computer savy in the least and just thinks that I am the cats meow when it comes to typing...lol
I feel for him!
THis is a clever, sharp and witty piece my friend and my hats off to your wife as she sits in her own little world of the keyboard. I know the feeling well.
A great read!
I'm not sure how Mr Clappy works on this new get up, but I am sending you one.... duh... er I think!
Blessings,
Frog
This will take a bit of getting used to!
