Twenty one at heart

How could it have come round so soon?
Just months, it seems, since you had the last,
(that party sure did last a while)
Now you turn around; a year has past.

A few more wrinkles in your smile,
(you've sprouted grays i'm sure)
hellos, goodbyes, all in a whirl
great opportunities galore

Motorcycles; nothing beats 'em!,
and such awesome tattoos you attain,
(i revere that simple fact that you
can sit and bear to stand the pain!)

But now that birthday indeed coming,
And it’s seeming far too soon,
So a piece of wisdom I have for you,
{No age can make you knowledge-immune!}

Life is just like toilet paper,
The closer to the end, the faster it goes,
But how many sheets are left on it,
No one really knows.

So just like you have til this day
keep living life to the whole,
'Cause everyone knows how much it sucks,
to be left holding the cardboard roll

So have a super birthday
(i'm sure beer will play a part)
Forty-two, the cards do say,
But twenty one at heart.

A sweet write, it seems to sum up everything about getting older, but I'm not sure about the toilet roll metaphor!

Thank you for your entry into my contest, it speaks volumes, it's not the age that has me down as I feel and have been told I look much younger than my age, it's other factors getting me down, good luck in my contest, Josephine.
