I visited you yesterday. Did you know I was there?
Did you see me sitting there with you as the tears
fell down my cheeks. Touching the cold, hard granite
as I read, "In Loving Memory 1972-1995."
I sit and remember the past with you, the present
without you....I can only hold onto those memories
that I have. In Loving Memory it says, Carl M. Hannah.
It does not tell your story, that you were a little brother,
a big brother, a son, a lover, and a friend..... to all that
spent time with you.
Never again will you see your family grow in size,
or have the long talks that were had long ago. Never
again to experience life...and I...will never experience
it with you by my side, my cheering section and
shoulder to lean on.
My big brother gone.
As I sit and this coldness goes from the granite to my
fingers. My heart remains warm with thoughts of you.
My love remembers you the way you were and
not where you are now...
Love remains for the person you still are, even though
you are no longer here. Your little sister I will always
be.

Wow.....I'm so sorry:(
Wow, let me just start off by saying I'm very sorry for your loss, I truly am. It must've been hard but your a strong person to have made it through all this. I lost my mother and 2 sisters in a car accident for years ago when I was 9. It was so hard, but life goes on, and I believe we'll all meet up someday. This was an amazing write something I can relate to, keep up the amazing work. I will be around to read more of your poems and I will be sure to comment on them too. Thanks for entering this piece into my contest and best of luck! Take care!

That is heartwrenching I am deeply sorry for your lose. I myself lost a close uncle in 2000 around christmas and at times it is still not easy to deal with even with the passage of time. Your poem is a wonderful honor to the memory of your brother. I am sure he is smilling down on you. Very well done very well done poem!!!

Thank you. I have written several about my divorce, and my brother..stuff that hits home. Yesterday was the first time I have visited his grave in several years. Just could not get myself to do it. Realized I was hurting myself more by not going, then I was by not going. So, it left alot there...eventually I will go visit my Dads again. I just have too many people I feel that I have lost..and it is sooo hard to visit and bring that back up. But, thank you for your comment and I will certainly check out what you have to say...I am sorry for your loss as well whether past or present...it is never an easy thing to deal with..but you are right...memories are there to hold onto

This is such a good write. It tells a story and it is powerful. I know how you are feeling. I have lost both of my parents (2 1/2 years between the death of each). It has been many years but the pain is still there. I miss them so much. I will always be there daughter. I hate how we lose those we love. It is not fair. Family is suppose to be there for you, not leave you. Always remember the good times with your brother, for memories help keep those who gave died stay living in our hearts. Take care. .....Check out some of my poems. I have some about losing my parents.
