Rape of the muse

'Hallowing screams trail:
voices after voices -
her bare body laid muted:
her stomach kissed by brutal marks,
the shimmer of her breasts covered in bloody scars
My darling muse, I arrived too late
to prevent the tragedy..'

In the grand hall of human nature:
my muse awaits,
as her summer frocks shine -
she is the sylph of perfection
(in red and golden sparkles),
waiting for her suitors.

Hope arrived in his tuxedo,
and charmed her with his array of dances:
tango, waltz or salsa - a Renaissance man!
Intellect enchanted her curiosities:
history, geography or literature
as he poured his tale of adventures

Then came Chivalry,
his mannerisms so attractive,
his gentlemen nature makes her heart throb
Or Patience -
shyly standing, listening
her every rhetoric

But lovely banquets never have a happy ending.

The sinners storm in their quest
of the heavenly muse
Armed -
Lost aims for Hope's throat;
and Hope's gone, with the arrow of frustration
Corruption stabs Chivalry;
with his lethal sword of darkness
And Nihilism?
Toring Intellect's legs, mocking sophisication
until the gun shot of nothingness came
Or patience?
Lust's irony rained on him,
with his army of butchery.

'My pretty sylph, you shall me mine,
not with that collection of useless men' - they yearned.
Lust stripped her bare:
kissed her with his barbarous saliva
licked until she moaned in desperation

Lost caressed her so rough -
biting her breasts with savage marks:
that impression of his greased hands on her back!

Corruption touches her legs
so wild, he grinds like a beast
and she, Ms.Lamb of the innocent

Nihilism with the last beat:
urges himself into her fragile self
whirling that horrid bloodbath

Then my muse shouted:
'You savages and beasts
shall repent every penny,
with such treachery
and for polluting the universe -
it's a darkened pit fall,
no longer pure or peaceful!
Whiteness is only a forlorn reminiscence!'

They stabbed her dead until no blood came.
And I arrived too late.

Postscript: My darling muse,
tears after tears,
I saw you in the celestial realm,
softly biding your farewell.
And I, your most humble servant,
shall restore:
Hope, Intellect, Chivalry and Patience
And sent the beasts
clean in River Stynx.

Author notes

'Appreciate everything, or love nothing.'

The extensive rape narrative in English had a huge impact on me, in fact this maybe considered an epic. I apologize if the lines are a bit too long.

Influences: Ovid's 'The Story of Philomela', Homer's Odyssey (Book 22), Angela Carter's 'Burning Shores - Rape of the Sabine Women' and Bernini's sculpture on Rape of Persephone (forgot the Roman name)/Apollo & Daphne

A very chaotic feel is given when ethereal and grotesque images are related to aspects of the natural world . Very well done . I think this could also relate to a poet who has truly lost his inspiration as well , although that doesn't seem to be the intended meaning .

wow, i love the twisted juxtaposition between beauty and carnage of the muse, really interesting imagery (as always). is the history/geography/literature perhaps a contextual reference? haha. I can see the whole idea of rape very clearly, but hopefully they don't obsess over the subject over there in english- have to say its depressing, especially coming from someone who attended an open court hearing on rape today. hah

    Epic

This is incredibly impressive. The imagery, vocabulary, meaning, emotion and subject are all fantastic. This is truly an amazing piece, surely you should be published, as this was not written by a rookie! Extreme talent shines through with this piece, reminds me of Mudvayne somehow. Thankyou for encouraging me to read this piece, it was worth every second

All I can say is WOW! This is so full of allusion and depth.

I really enjoyed reading this, it is the kind of poem to come back to time and again to really appreciate the range of its meaning.

    Thank you for posting this.
