There were thoughts of you today,
Blue as the sky
Of emblems and patches
sewn on fabric
Broad shouldered
and straight
glove touched caps
regulations
diamond folded flags
and empty arms
some never to be filled
.....again.
Of empty rooms
and empty eyes
A simple thank you
(though not nearly enough)
to all who served...
and those they love.

Thank you, John. It is not complete, but I was pressed for time. Thank you for reading and letting me know you did.

My youngest daughter and I spent most of yesterday afternoon at a Pow-Wow. It was held in the town where her grandparents
live. They were the first people we saw when we arrived, and they didn't know we would be there. Mindy's grandfater was the oldest veteran there at 84 (WWII) and they honored him as such. The whole evening people keep stopping by to speak with him and let him know how much they appreciated his service. He was touched and I am so glad my daughter got to see that.

Thank you, Wally. They are many in number, but too often forgotten. My Dad was a WWII vet, he's been gone for years, I still have his flag, and I treasure it.

We owe everything we are to those who served and to those who paid the ultimate price for that service. I salute them one and all. Glad you remembered.
Sincerely,
