Beautiful Pain ~

Missing image

~ Hues of neon blues,

versicolor virus of violet,

capturing your image of death ~

~ Sculptor of Beauty,

infecting mortal structure,

sores ooze putrid tears of puss ~

~ Bones weakened,

skeletal figurines no longer dance,

shadows of  eminent death cast forth ~

~ Fading memories,

thoughts of past and present lost,

percolating sickness throughout my veins ~

~ Fevers forever,

pools of night sweats to drown in,

ghostly white screams of painful regrets ~

~ AIDS quilt,

covering mother's pain of lost son,

photographs of family affairs, minus me ~

Author notes

Option # 1

To live in this much Pain,
you must not die ~

I was diagnosed HIV + in Aug. 1992 ~

This is an AIDS virus stained to capture its' 3 D form under an Electron microscope ~

I am absolutely in love with this heartfelt poem.
I'm adding you to the finalists in my contest.

My Uncle Steve, growing up, was my best friend. He was more than a second father to me. He died of AIDS on my 10th birthday. I pray for you and your loved ones, this is a horrible disease and destroys innocent lives. Nobody, no matter what lifestyle or legacy they will leave behind, deserves to die of AIDS.

Good luck in my contest, but mostly in life.

This was so moving and so deep. Disease is such a scary thing. You've made pain very lyrical and beautiful in it's own hellish way. My prayers are with you and I just hope they find a cure one of these days.

The yin and yang of life are often quite interesting. Here we have a virus that is nasty in it's function and yet rather beautiful in its appearance. Granted, this one has been stained to show detail but it is still captivating. Some day (hopefully soon) we shall find a way to beat this life form and be rid of its dreaded abilities. In the meantime, we die. A thought-provoking poem you've written...

My very best friend died from AIDS when he was only 29. Soon before passing, he wrote a poem not too different from this one. This work hits right in my heart. As I'm writing this, tears are streaming down my face. You have a gift, my dear. A gift that needs to be out in the world. Everyone should read your works and be made to contemplate them. Please try to take care and keep your chin up.

This is very sad. I hope that you write something happy soon...because this poem makes me want to cry with everyone else. I'm an emotional guy...the reason my girlfriend left me. Well, forget that. This isn't about me. Good poem, my friend, and very sad. I hope you get to feeling happy soon.
