What is this nasty sensation I feel
every time I kneel
also when I stand
it pounds away like a steel drum band
I rest awhile and pop a pill
and stare again at the chemist's bill
what do these pills contain
it says for strong pain
Oh the pain of it all, woe is me
I feel it in my knee
and in my purse too
what is a gal to do
Pain signals many things to me
it makes me cry until I can not see
and then I thank God that He is with me too
because I know he loves me and you
I used to fear pain
but now I rejoice again
and applaud my pain as it reveals to me
so much more than my eyes can see
It shows to me that perfect
or imperfect
my God still loves Me
and suffers with Me
every time I kneel
also when I stand
it pounds away like a steel drum band
I rest awhile and pop a pill
and stare again at the chemist's bill
what do these pills contain
it says for strong pain
Oh the pain of it all, woe is me
I feel it in my knee
and in my purse too
what is a gal to do
Pain signals many things to me
it makes me cry until I can not see
and then I thank God that He is with me too
because I know he loves me and you
I used to fear pain
but now I rejoice again
and applaud my pain as it reveals to me
so much more than my eyes can see
It shows to me that perfect
or imperfect
my God still loves Me
and suffers with Me

HOOD-WINKED!
Oh I like, very much!
It almost reminded me of Sylvia Plath, and let that serve as a compliment. I very much enjoyed this, the expression and style in here is amazing!

As someone with osteoarthritis of the knees I can empathise with your poem. Pain killers don't seem to work for long do they? Luckily, now I'm a pensioner, I can get them on prescription and don't have to pay! I like your poem, I wrote one on a similar theme, called "Silly Walk" which you may like to read. Take care.

Well said. Very true about the cost not only to our bodies, but our pocketbooks as well. Great write, and another good message.

Thanks for the comment on my poem, I do have some chronic pain but thankfully its not constant but does at times feel like I described, it has been worse, but lots of people have constant pain and this is why I wrote this in this way.

Well I'm glad that you have found some solace in your pain through God, even if you have found no relief. Thanks for entering this in the contest, else I wouldn't have had the chance to read it!
