so much to explore,
our family is growing,
a new child to adore.
Now adoptive parents
to a girl or a boy,
we’ll be there to show them
life can be a joy.
It won’t matter if this child
is an infant or teen;
our home is now permanent,
no more ‘in-between’.
We’ll teach them of values,
of virtues and morals;
help them through crisis,
through arguments and quarrels.
Our life will be built
on caring and love;
with direction and guidance
of the hand from above.
It won’t all be roses,
there’ll be struggles and strife;
this child will have issues
from the cruelty of life.
Our patience is needed
more than ever before,
and worth every ounce
for this child we’ll adore.
Keep open our minds,
keep open our hearts;
we'll hold praise for this child
right from the start.
Understanding the past
may not have been kind;
giving unconditional love
and love we will find.
Not blood of our blood,
or even color of our skin;
This child will be ours,
love is born from within.
Author notes
♥ Adoption. Just, anything. From the child's, or parent's point of view. This would mean a lot to me if you could enter under this option.
This is written for my friend, Melissa, who is about to become a adoptive mother for the first time.
Melissa, I wish you and your husband many years of happiness and wonderment as you welcome this new child into your lives. Your journey as parents will be your greatest discovery of each other. Congratulations!

Sweet
Love is born from within
I love that line because it is so true. I know exactly how that feels. That is the kind of thing that I think people need to be reminded of more often.

This is so beautiful. I especially love the final stanza, and even more especially, the final line:
Not blood of our blood,
or even color of our skin;
This child will be ours,
love is born from within.

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW... GREAT POEM... i felt as if you are the one with the great news... well it sure seemed like it... GREAT JOB {once again} I would really love it if you gave me a little advice about writing poetry... for you see, i am just a beginner, and am still learning, i would like to put myself in the other person's shoes and write a poem as if something has happened to me, which i am not very good at... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
