Harlot

Verse:
“My love,” she said to me;
“My bed will set you free;
My heart, like red’s true blue;
And how it so wants you;

“I’ve made my oath to God;
And now my flesh it prods;
My room holds scents so fine,
So I can make you mine;”

Chorus:
The night broke with her voice;
I was her latest choice;
Held by her sultry charm;
My heart was so disarmed;

Her heart, her lips, her eyes
I was struck by sin’s surprise;
Now sin holds onto me;
Held on by lust’s folly;

Verse:
“Let’s have our fill o’ love;
This night, I am your dove,
For now I’m on my own,
Until my husband’s home;”

I took this fire to me;
Cast wisdom to the sea,
And now my soul’s aflame;
I’ll never be the same;

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
So please learn from this fool,
Stay far from lust’s filthy pool,
Or you will be like me,
Such beds can’t set you free;

    Nice take on this proverb... I agree with you if you give into lust once or twice it will stay with you forever and you'll be likely to make the same mistakes again and be reminded of your past. It's often not heeded however that we learn from others mistakes.

    Very good

    This is the age old story of humankind, lifted straight from the pages of Scripture. We have always struggled with the flesh, thinking that somehow we can attain freedom and peace in submission to it. But what we usually find is disappointment and shame. Galatians 5: 17 "For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish."

    I'm confused as to why you've used ";" at the end of every line, because really the line breaks denote the proper pause anyway without the punctuation. Otherwise, it had a steady beat to it and I particularly enjoyed the chorus. I could almost hear the music in my head while I read this one aloud.

    Very beautiful.... deep expressions of love and lovers..
    I really did enjoy this poem...  Proverbs 7:6-27 pretty much with only a few variations... no court yard... except she was a prostitute and did this with a different man every day... this just about sum "my girl" up... This is magnificent.... I love my BIBLE readings too... There are some really racy stories in there... The Song of Solomon is one of the best romance novels you can read...
    Every question in life, the answer to it is in that book! This is a Master piece!   Smile

    Serene and in love

    Hmm you seem to be captured and bottled up by fleshly desires. Rev. 17: 16 says and the ten horns which you saw and the beast these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire.. the woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth. Praying for you and hold on!! By the way, i've seen Third Day in concert a couples of years ago. Awesome And Sublime Love and Blessings. xx

    This is an excellent piece, Sweetie. You have captured both the frailty of our worldy body as well as the need to remain pure of sin. A wonderfully orchestrated piece. Love and hugs, Mom
