If Love was a flower in someone else’s garden,
I would watch and wish it water, sunlight,
Flower Angels to guard over it through nights.
If love were a bird, sitting in pine bough,
I would string choicest berries, grow best
sunflowers, put peanuts and butter in a block
and let them swing from lines all over the yard.
If love were a cloud on far off horizon,
I would reach up and shape it into your faces
and pin it to sky with upholstery tacks
with star’s twinkle, in shape of hearts,
in shape of gods and goddesses' thrones,
and send charging horses of Love’s chariot
to bring crowds of admirers of Love, to hover
like Northern Lights at your feet.
If love were you, I would draw you to caution,
sing to you of The Beautiful in comfort and compassion,
draw you pictures of how loneliness is nothing
but shadows you wait in until Love’s light found you,
in kindest age of embrace.
If love is you; you are Love.
I would watch and wish it water, sunlight,
Flower Angels to guard over it through nights.
If love were a bird, sitting in pine bough,
I would string choicest berries, grow best
sunflowers, put peanuts and butter in a block
and let them swing from lines all over the yard.
If love were a cloud on far off horizon,
I would reach up and shape it into your faces
and pin it to sky with upholstery tacks
with star’s twinkle, in shape of hearts,
in shape of gods and goddesses' thrones,
and send charging horses of Love’s chariot

like Northern Lights at your feet.
If love were you, I would draw you to caution,
sing to you of The Beautiful in comfort and compassion,
draw you pictures of how loneliness is nothing
but shadows you wait in until Love’s light found you,
in kindest age of embrace.
If love is you; you are Love.

Thank you for an awesome comment. Truly, the neatest one I have received. Yes, it was a ocmplicated rhtythm and scheme but I meant for it to show struggle in the way we sometimes approach being found by love and then settle ourselves to Love when it surprises us...not as the audience, and observer, but as a woman who knows some of that struggle for that acceptance. Tk you, again.

I had to read it twice, for my first mental voice had just come in from the rain, and I could not find the remote to my mental television... the second reading I saw what you were doing with each stanza, and the voice gradually tuned in... I had to read the last stanza four or five times, each time my heart waking just a bit more... until my breath was taken away...
and of course I thought Night Hope might be mixed-up in all this!

Since you are my friend, then, to them turn and breathe in the gentle gathering, brother. It would inspire even the hardest of hearts and you, gentle brother, know of such beautiful love and gatherings.

Since you know them
I see through you
how they turn, bend
and appear brand new.

Ah, but you see, Love makes me so grateful. Friendship is a power connection. Commonality makes each other dearer. I wish for you...what Love has done for me. Healing powers of love, however short, however long, however kind, is not to be compared. Thank you for sharing your incidents of ah, awe, and aw.

It is interesting tome that as I was writing, I suddenly went outside allt hat I meant to write and the poem took over itself...that is how that one stanza felt deeper perhaps.
-
You know how wanda finds the most perfect picture...well, I had to do some searching to find one she has not already sued...lol..and one that would fit my poem perfectly.

thank you luv. If you look closely at the painting, you will see, in the background a man and woman dancing.....the jpg really reminded me of a woman wishing and wanting that kind of love...the poem is about finding it.

i clicked on this about twenty minutes ago...was in the process of reading when my best friend called...i had her wait while i finished. then i said 'holy cow!...'Cathy i have to read this to you'
so i read it to her over the phone and she made me read it again
needless to say we both loved it, epecially the first two stanzas.
to me the picture seems to superimpose two faces kinda melding them into one. good choice on that one
Wanda and Mark will be so touched when they read this...i see Mark already has. i do so hope everything goes as well as could be for both of them
spectacular write my friend

This is amazing...my words can't even begin to capture what is going through my head after reading this. Wow...thank you so much for such a beautiful write.
-
Wow. This is a really pretty poem that you have written here! I like it!
The picture was real nice too. I found myself looking at it for several moments. There's just something about the water color in and out of the lines that makes you stare and stare at it. And your poem fits that nicely. Your words are wistful and full of light and gentle feelings. You give vision to things that are intangible but still felt strongly. I think you have done a good job of expressing yourself here. I'm sure the two people who you wrote this for will really appreciate such a wonderful sentiment. So thanks for featuring this so that we all had a chance to share your words and feelings with you!

I have no words. I can't even type. My eyes welled with tears. Bless you, Dear Lady. God bless you. ~Mark

Blessed be
That is simply one of the most beautiful love poems I think I have read. The imagery is perfect and it makes you feel like you are the person being loved and enveloped by this. Well done
