Dancing with the Devil
Playing a game that you can't win.
Wondering if it's worth it,
Knowing it's a sin.
Flirting now with danger
Walking that thin line.
Getting lost beneath it
Pretending that it's fine.
Making out with madness
Dishonor fills your mouth.
But passions taste turns bittersweet
and it's too late to get out.
You love him
You say you love him
Then why do you turn away?
You love him
But if you love him
Why have you gone astray?
Innocence is blackened
And honesty is lies.
Touches feel like nothing
and that ring is your disguise.
Thoughts in your head make your ears bleed
And his words bruise your soul.
But that smile is so convincing
No one will ever know.
You convince yourself he loves you
and that you feel the same
Drown desire in a bottle
It's all part of the game.
You love him
You know you love him
Then why do you turn away?
You love him
but if you love him
Why did you go astray?
Innocence is blackened
And honesty is lies.
You've turned into No one
and that ring is your disguise.

This was amazing. This was something I didn't expect with a rhyming scheme as well. Hurtful and real but outside what should be beautiful state of love. Well done.

Wow. Such an emotion packed piece. I felt so sad and simply trapped with your ending. There are a million reasons why and a million reasons why not. A wonderful addition to this contest. Best of luck. I could relate so well. ~Pamela

Creativity is born of confusion and turmoil.... and you got that in spades sometimes. more than I believe is your share. HOWEVER: I love you. :-)
