Night

Night falls, descending and darkening

Inwrought within a sacred silence

A perfect sanctuary, sublime

Peaceful, dark and unknowing

Where all thoughts

Are but a weakened whisper

Drawn slowly under

In solitude and self-absorption

In my own place, where evening envelops everything

With it's dark prescience; separating and consummating

Night, with your openness declare

The gloriousness of being

Filling the mind, passing over thoughts

Worlds imagined, places within the dark

Passing time in a dream state

I look up to the stars, thinking

"This self I thought I knew...

My own existence actually matters not"

Overhead, a vast nebulous cloud of candescence

Looms over me, above and without

Out of reach, unknown, fleeting

Declaring the entropy of material being

My mind at night surveys and takes it all in

Always so observing, internalizing, growing

Knowing that this moment, today will fade away

And become another memory, shifting in the dark
