When the doctor thinks the patient is acting weird
And looking at him out of the corner of her eye
When all is intolerably tolerable,
Like acute boredom with money
Craving everything,
But passionate about nothing,
He wonders
About a vaca in Mexico
A small frail voice whispers beside him,
A gentle hand brushes his smock.
An elderly lady, it’s all in the timing, says
Something.
But he can’t hear her,
So he leans his mouth to the nurses’ ear, saying,
‘Please see what she wants,
Will you please?’
Apexed once but
Dual time, victorious, almost puritan he is,
Dreaming of scratching
Nothing
A stranger to you and me,
A Cardinal pallet,
Unselfconscious.
A silent assassins’ bullet quietly escaped
Its chamber of gratitude.
But he’ll never hear her
Say thank you,
As she dies in the poets’ cell,
From loneliness.
Children taken
By the winds of the almighty
Created dollar...
In God they rust.
Author notes
I hate only lonliness.

excellent
I too read it twice through...great depth with some abstract imagery...quite wonderfully worded and the title was perfect! As a nurse I've been put in this position on more occasions than I'd like to think about. If the Dr. truly can't understand what his pt. is saying, and it's obvious he's trying, I am more than glad to help. If, however, he's being an ignorant ass, I simply assist in bridging the gap (the specifics depend on the situation) but I basically find a way to make sure he's in hearing range, & making eye contact, and that the pt.is comfortable. It's worth the effort. I am first and foremost, and advocate for my patients rights. Being treated with dignity is everybody's right. Ah! so once I got chewed out. At least when he got it back, I did it in a professional manner - anyway I kind of went off on a tangent there! - sorry - I LOVED THIS POEM -
This is an excellent write Enigma Tic. For me, this is such a poignant write highlighting how easy it is to be lazy, heartless, uncaring, so wrapped up in our own lives to dismiss others, completely overlook another human being. How, if only we could reach out to others, we could touch someone and make them feel they belong, even if only for a moment. The damage otherwise so clinical!!

Excellent piece ! Had to read it twice to fully comprehend its meaning...( or my perception / interpretation of...)
The whole write seems to conjure feelings of emptiness / loneliness / despair...complete disassociation with the enviroment and meaningless interactions....emotional loneliness...
Enjoyed

Craving everything, but passionate about nothing... this is a great line. It so fits the state of the world today.

Inscrutably good
You have locked up a mystery within.
I tip my hat to you sir. -
I know that loneliness all too often, it hurts, and it's sometimes unbearable. I like the imagery that you use here, it'll probably take me another read to fully grasp what you're trying to convey, but the initial read, makes me like this one alot.
Nyx...
