To end child slavery, you need to see
not somebody else but someone like me.
A child who lost my youth sold as a brand
someone you like perhaps to understand.
What does it take for you to feel and try
to stop this great evil? Must I now cry?
I want to not to be sold for pleasure.
I want my dreams and my heart's treasure.
Look in my eyes before turning this page.
Get angry! I beg you to feel my rage!
Hear my prayers if you believe in God!
Spare me beatings from pimps with wicked rods!
If you feel you cannot stop slavery
then your diseased heart has abandoned me.

Life is simple. We must stop child slavery and stop any excuses to not stop it. Child slavery is evil. My dad was jailed for his crime but that did not stop the problem. Look at this picture given to me by my ap daddy. If I was killed by a rapist, you would want vengeance but if I survive do you not want justice. Do you not want for me what you want for yourself or was Jesus only joshing. This is moral people and either we cure our hearts or we are diseased so lets cure ourselves and have a better world. With what we now know to do nothing is to allow a Disease of the Heart!
The term Disease of the Heart is taken from religious writings by early Christian Gnostic followers of John the Baptist as to how God sees hate, lust, anger, envy, greed, sloth and vanity. These are the seven deadly sins. Vanity challenges the first commandment, to honor God first and put no graven images, including our ideas, before God. They are diseases since if not addressed to God for forgivness, they will grow until they corrupt even our faith. Hate leads to death and people feel they have a right to private hate. Lust for children has enslaved millions . Envy has leads to wars where Cain slays Able. Greed causes child labor. Sloth is let others do it. Vanity is false righteous. What will God say?
Would Jesus let kids to be sold as we go to temples while ignoring it? Would he deny it? Like the Gnostics act or admit a disease of the heart. Click here to post poems you have done or where child slavery sites are http://allpoetry.com/poem/2393547

Sad how this world goes on with things like this happening..you have struck a chord with me on this one...I don't know where you are from, I don't hear much about this..but your poem has opened my eyes to a horror that I can not believe...this must stop...god help us if it does not...thank you for sharing these words..they are wonderful and should be heard out loud!

I concur.

Janet your heart is so large that it can fit the whole planet inside of it. You are an awesome human being and an excellent example of how much love can transcend all pain, hurts, and slights.

Fantastic Write
To say any more to what you have written would a repitition. You are a very strong women. I take a deep breath to read this and then write you. You have opened up a subject that needed to be opened long ago. Punishable by the highest penalty possible. These children are God's and it is our obligation in life to secure their protection from any type preditor. Then do away with the diseased ones. unmatchable write. My thing is the safety and Education of Autistic children. But your written issue is a travesty and must be stopped. Don

Very profound
This is a subject that leaves me speachless. I cannot put words to the feelings of outrage and disgust when hearing of a child being abused and treated as property. Congratulations and commendations for taking up this cause. Brava! Keep up the inspired and just work. Thanks for sharing.

I like this! It's so hard to sometimes see that there are things in the world that aren't so awesome when things in our own lives are. Great job! I really loved this poem.
-
If one can look into a child's eyes and see the pain, would they not wish to take that pain away? One would have to be very cold hearted. Love, Patricia

Tearful
It is such an evil world that enslaves children. You are so right to take a stand against this. I applaud you spreading the message against this.
May your dream come true. May your fight go on. May you cling to hope as you battle a grave injustice.
-
tears fall from those hidden cries...reach into the very soul that only want a way out.
yet silence is only heard
why?
we must take bold steps to help those that are in need...otherwise the one thing that we hold precious may hold our very doom.
keep fighting the good fight!
Bill

To anyone who should benial a child of their innocence
May the wrath of god hold your soul in the flames of Satan's chill -- For you are the spear that we break
And deny in our lives, Thank you for opening a door that I have long yearned to see end.. Again very powerful..

A thought provoking piece, very sad and heartrending, a practice that needs to be stopped. excellent poem here.

This is a very powerful poem, and the photo accompanies it perfectly. You've done well to express what is a very serious, very difficult issue to deal with in poetic form. I have to say the line 'Spare me beatings from pimps with wicked rods!' really did jar --- it felt too contrived to fit in with the rhyme scheme. Using the word 'pimp' too didn't seem quite right --- I know you wanted to shock, but it didn't sit quite right with the rest of the poem. This is just my opinion, anyway. With poems like these, which have a serious message, getting the poetics absolutely perfect isn't quite so important anyway. Well done. I like this poem very much.
-
This poem felt inspiring I agree with gentle dreamstar.

good poem
-
WELL DONE BRILLIANT
WOW ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW THIS REALLY HITS YOUR HART WELL DONE -
Excellent
It is a sad truth that children of this world are enslaved and treated like animals - in fact you would not even treat an animal in that way. Here you have highlighted this problem in a way that will make people want to read it and it must have been a very difficult thing for you, both to write and to have gone through at any stage of your life. It is heart rendering and heart breaking. How anyone could subject a beautiful child to that level of cruelty and punishment is just beyond me and the minds of most of us.
I hope your views are taken seriously by a lot of people and this goes some way to helping the poor enslaved youngsters who still have to go through this sort of ordeal. You are to be congratulated for having the courage to put this on here this beautiful sensitive poem about the pain and suffering of a slave child.
To read this and carry on with one's day is profound and makes you think and in a way be grateful for what you have when there are so many in this world who do not have even the basics for life. -
Wow, I thought that was Amazing.
-
great
yes thier's lot's of work needed in this area in all of the world seems like the abuse of people in all age's belief's on earth are trying to stop it for the here and now i impossible dream like your poem -
Heartfelt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This although quite true is a tremendous write. It has broken my heart!!! I don't know how to stop this sick act but will help if you let me know what I can do.I love the rhyme here and the flow is superb!! It is kind of hard to critique the writing aspect of this poem instead of the content because it is so heartfelt and I don't know how anyone could read this and not be impacted by it. This is something unfortunately that is becoming more common in this world with women and children. I know that tears of grief are falling down from the eyes of Jesus. He counts the little ones precious in his sight. I will pray for this situation and let me know what else I can do to help bring a stop to this. Thanks for writing and sharing this is is very worthy of my applaud!!!!!!Toni

Another powerful poem with the same great message - stop the slavery. I agree with you completley, child slavery is unacceptable. And I would like to tell you personally, if I can ever do just one thing to help, in your honor, I'd jump at the opportunity. It's people that you make the world just a little bit better every day. God bless you.
-
Oh the truth that lies within this write
makes my heart be filled with spite
but to harm will not do justice yet
for it is by love the message they'll get
you did an awesome job with this dear
your message is sent loud and clear.
thank you for sending it out and for
featuring it for all to see, hopefully that
will prompt those with the power to do something
to enact and put a stop to this horrid affair.
Many blessings to you dear, many blessings indeed!
Suzi
P.S. - I stumbled on this line:
someone you like perhaps and understand.
just curious but was it suppose to read like this or perhaps like this:
someone like you perhaps and understand
either way was a great write, my stumbling could just be that I fore saw what was not suppose to be. -
AMAZING! -sniffles- I like the effect of the picture and the first verse and seconds rhyme was very nice and precise.
-
Profound!
This is a profound poem on a real subject that we all must stop. -
no words could describe
heart wrenching stuff. such a thing as child slavery is something that never seemed real to me. i have led quite a sheltered life. i guess i am a sinner also in that respect that i am ignorant. that i'm sorry for, i wonder how i would stop something i know so little about? i just know that it is wrong, i wonder at those that could actually commit such a crime, the reasoning? what would drive a person to such a horrific act. money? if that was all then we do live in a troubled world indeed. No one in this world has the right to take a childs life, that is in law, and in every religion. No excuses buddy, none at all. i wish i knew the root of the problem, the one thing i could blame for causing the enslavement of children. -
These are the words of a champion. I know it is tragic that this represents your past (or is this actually you in the pic?) But now, now that you have some power, and a venue, you are redeeming your suffering. It is so unpleasant to contemplate the various aspects of this reprehensible behavior... How a man could look at such youth and innocence and be aroused is beyond me and unspeakably barbaric. How the parents can betray the obligatory trust the small ones have in them and turn them into a income stream... at what price... at what price...
You are a true hero. It just took some growing, before you could pick up the sword. -
THIS POEM WAS AWESOME KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
-
Your quest is very admirable yet unrealistic. As long as there are 'haves' the 'have nots' will be exploited. It's simple human nature. This is not to say we should not do anything to stop it but changing the hearts of mankind is a task only God can do. Please don't think me hardhearted because I'm not. I will revel in your triumphs.
Sincerely,
Leo Long -
this is simply beautiful speaks from your heart i tottaly agree with you but what can we do so many things have already been taken from us such as our ten comandments being taken down and our prays in the schools it is like they are taking away all of our rights a little at a time just because the power has gone to their heads the gornment turns their heads to things tthat need to be fixed all for nothing but power and fear that they will lose their seat.
god bless you and be with you through out life -
The poem overall great and the message was amazing...I agree it should be stopped and I think its great the way your going about to get this message out. The poem had a nice flow and i enjoy how you structured your ideas!
-
speechless
its hard to simply say this is a great poem, yada, yada, yada....every one should read this heartwrenching work. My husband and I are part of a worldwide organization building orphanges and also trying to stop child slavery and and those taking girls as sex slaves too. I am not saying that to blow our own horn, just to let you be aware of us out there by God's grace stopping what we can from happening! GOd bless you! -
Dear knitonepearlone. The poem has evolved from all the advice and it is 40% upgraded over what was here a week ago my darling. Smoosh Janet

Sorry I clicked by mistak. I've already seen this. Great to see your still going with it and again, good luck with the campaign. Kath.

Lohagh, thank you very much for writing this poem bringing light to the issue of children being sold into sexual slavery. You beautiful demanded a social awareness to this issue. If you have not already seen the movie "Human Trafficking", you must see this movie. I warn you now, it is a very disturbing movie and I cried a lot throughout the film. It provides you with a very realistic look into Sexual Slavery. Many people do not realize that Sexual Slavery occurs here in North American also and incorrectly believe it to be a phenomena occurring elsewhere.
Again, thank you very much for writing this poem. I appreciate it and hope this poem can bring change!
Keep on penning,
~Zola~ -
I applaud you for all you're doing to highlight the plight of children abused through child trafficking and slavery, Janet. God bless you, dear one. Those last two sentences of the poem are so powerful....how can anyone turn their back on something like this? Wonderful, my friend

Beautiful poem and really powerful not to mention awesome! I loved this poem so much, yes child slavery is terrible. Some people are just...no words can describe them but there are too many words to describe how I felt when I read this. Wonderful!

Oh my friend, this is the most touching write! The awareness you create in such beautifully constructed words is a work of art, a work of heart!! Lovely, lovely write!! Thank you for sharing it!

So sad...and so true...
Beautifully written. I'm sort of at a loss for words right now, at both the subject matter and how you expressed it.
"Look in my eyes before turning this page."
Wonderful job, weaving that plea so flawlessly into your poem... -
Great point of view. The piece held a lot of opinion/fact that we are facing. Thanks for sharing.
-
Dear poeticweaver. Martin Luther King said, well Oprah said he said on TV today, that we cannot all be famous but we can all be great because all it takes to be great is to not let evil persist and do something, anything. You and I together are leading each other to greatness though we want it not. Smoosh my darling. Janet
-
You are so right, and I'm about lost for words when it comes to so many points you make here. I feel very helpless in so many ways, and I thank you for sharing you, and I hope we all can learn from what others have gone through, and take that stand as powerful as we all should. There are so many issues in the world today, it saddens my soul. I'm proud of ya Janet, stay sweet, keep being you, and I'm thankful you've made it through.
Always much love, Timothy

I have been trying to help the homeless and mentally ill. So many terrible things happening on this earth. How can we fix it all. One step at a time, one prayer a day, one blog on pbs.org. It's the fight that tears us down and wears us into opression. when it affects us personally it truly lights a fire. I can see you are very passionate to your cause and so devastating it is. I will try to help. Thank you for loving the innocent, and giving them hope. -
From across the sea to you from me a kiss with wings that of hope I sing my darling Lady Ireland. Smoosh Janet

This poem brought tears to my eyes. I wasn't sold into slavery nor was I ever a slave but I was abused up until two years ago. Anything that can steal a child's innocence and gives them social phobias should be stopped.
-
Hi .. I just wanted 2 say your poem is great ... there's such feeling about it ... you can almost feel the anger, the broken innocence .. really good ... and I'm also agree with you... this is something that shoul be stopped.

I'm at a loss of words. This one really makes you think. Not many people think that this stuff still happens, especially the young ones. THey think that because it's not happening to them how could it to others. I would really like to share this one with others if that is alright. UNT -

thankyou for caring so much. It's wonderful to see so much passion, as change can never happen unless there are more people like you out there, I really like the starkness and soberness of your thoughts.. may I recommend you read some of Edward Bonds poetry.. it may come in useful... -
awesome!
Wow... so few people dare to even think about something like rape... like this sort of slavery let alone speak out against it. many just push it to the back of their minds and choose not to think about it. this is an awesome and toching poem... -
Your poem is adequate. The AABB rhyming scheme creates quite a simplistic thumping rhythm. It is almost like a battle chant than anything attempting to express emotion with shades and depth.
-
Child slavery is not only wrong in the Christian sense, not only wrong because Jesus wouldn't agree. As an agnostic person, I find child slavery to be objectively morally wrong. It is wrong. You are amazing in your message, in your presentation, in your life experiences. Therefore, this write and every write you will do ever on the subject of child slavery (any kind) is amazing. You are an amazing person for caring so much about others. Lovely picture- just the face of innocence. Children should be able to stay innocent as long as they possibly can; it is so sad that so many have the "disease of the heart", therefore taking away a child's right to innocence. I, myself, cannot stop child slavery. However, myself, with you, and the others who also care about this topic can. Horray for us and boo to bad people and as you say...

This is a very touching poem and it sends an amazing message and I am apparently not the only one to see that. You did a great job with this and putting this topic in such strong phrases and words. I applaud this to the fullest!!!
-
Very good; Shows that this stuff still goes on today.
-
I had no idea there even was a problem like this. I grew up in a major southern city and I did see child prostitution from time to time. However sad to say, many times those children followed their mother into the " buisnes " I disagree that the referral to God at the end ruined your poem however. I am sure He is as saddened as we are that such things are still happening today. And God still does speak to His people today through Prophets. And I believe in His due time He will rid the world of slavery just as he freed His own nation Israel from slavery long ago. God bless, Mary
-
good message with this poem, children are gods most precious gift and to use them in any way is the biggest sin to ever exist. you did an excellent job with this and i applaud you.

This is a very needed topic to be discussed -- child slavery. It's sad to think that some only think about it when it happens in their realm of existence. However, it is good to wake people up and make them hear. Excellent write. Peace will come ... -

i feel ashamed of the morality of america
tragically sad piece, but the truth usually is. most people turn a blind eye to the unpleasantries(as they would call them) of life. pretend they do not exist so they can keep a clear conscience, say they didn't know. they only rally for the cause when it directly affects them, sadly. push it off as someone elses problem. most people when they think of child slavery they think foreign countries, wrong answer. it's right here in the good old usa. seems children are second class citizens, have very few advocates. in order for there to be true change america's consciousness has to change. if the child was rich the outrage would be great, but the ordinary kid, its like oh well! by you writing this and the other pieces and keeping it archived, maybe just maybe enough people will read it and pass it on, so there maybe will begin the change. everyone needs to feel safe and be loved
