let's grow dark together

Please take my lungs
they’ll serve you badly
all achy & hefty & worn
thin from muffled screams.
I could be your heart
that doesn’t beat,
add to the cold
between your sheets.
I want to pull you down
so badly
and set you next to me.
I can be your air
and we can gasp
for lack of oxygen together.
So, please, take my lungs
they’ll serve you badly
but they’re all I have.

This is just simply so beautiful. Your authors comment just makes me want to break down, it's so beautifully tragic. I love this poem, but I feel that it is really self degrading and that you don't value yourself enough. But it is so so beautiful, I really enjoyed it. =]
