She stands there.
The crispness of the air stings her lungs,
The drums beat all around her,
Propellers beat down the air from above...
And she stands there.
Dirt covers her clothes,
Blood covers her skin,
Tears streak her face...
And she stands there.
Run!
Run before they see you,
Before they charge bullets towards your heart.
Flee this world,
It's not your fight...
And she stands firm.
Her eyes pierce me.
Full of sadness,
Full of concern.
Then her body explode with the bomb.
The ground flies,
The smoke settles,
And I stand here...
Deafening silence.
Author notes
When I thought of this... I didn't understand what it meant at all. I just wrote it down. Now I get it, and it hurts. Maybe it'll mean something to you too.
