I sell things on eBay... or do I?

I list on eBay...

Tell me why I can't sell a single thing

Tell me why I list over and over again

I spend all my time

Slaving over patterns, wool and needles

It's not like I'm selling junk...

Special woolly hats

Not Pez despensers

Snuggly wuggly scarves

Not A.L.F. alarm clocks

Baby clothes and other knitted things

Are what I choose to bring to the fray

No one wants to buy the sensible stuff

Only the pieces of crap that take up space

Maybe if I pitch them as being dumb and sucky

Someone will buy something

Fifty one days and no sale

Why am I on there just to fail?

Yes, I do have an eBay shop. No one has bought a single thing and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. It's frustrating, yet I'm still not stopping making the stuff I'm trying to sell!

Do not be frustated with your eBay shop, just be patient. It takes time for word to get around. Maybe you could spend more time collecting better pictures to add to your items. You know it is important for buyers to see the items clearly. Keep that in mind..

    Yours,
    Kain

I feel your pain! I crochet...oodles. Your're right about no one wanting to buy the sensible stuff. My mom is a bay'er....she remarks all the time on how people will buy the most obnoxious stuff out there... all I can say is keep trying... I'll have to send you pix of some of the stuff I crochet.

    PS... love your poetry.

Hi there, I also had a look at your ebay page and your work is really beautiful, I shall log on next week and buy some stuff as christmas is coming and the weather in Northern Ireland is terrible so your page is handy !!
Have you thought about approaching a shop that sells second hand goods ... as I have a friend who runs one in England as she is always looking for new stock so maybe that would be an idea for you to look at, or even opening up your own place, failing that the Sunday Market is an idea !! lol
Take care my friend, I shall return xx

Just as a P.S. to my previous post, what I had done a few years back was set up sale of baby items and afghans I knit on a consignment basis with both an infant/toddler boutique shop, as well as one of those county home-themed shops. I set it up on a 60%/40% basis with my material expenses being aside of that. A lot of shopowners may be open to such an arrangement--Especially considering there's no inventory stock cost and it's all profit to them should the item sell.

If you do set up such arrangments though, put it all down in writing with details as to terms including duration of consignment, get it signed by both parties and then keep knitting. I know the sale of handmade items is miniscule next to the real value of such things many times of E-Bay...But people will often pay any price when discovering treasured handmade items in a boutique-type setting.

Good luck to you and let me know how it goes!

Do you sell knitting yarns and such on E-Bay, Definitive? I may have been your very best customer a few years back and I guess you're somehow responsible for that yarn-stash I have stashed everywhere!

Thank goodness I've discovered AP and undiscovered E-Bay! LOL
    Good whine-poem!

Well, £6.99 works out to be US$13.33... but I can waive the postage fee for people I know.

I had to check out your work for myself. They're wonderfully beautiful, and I think they should sell like hotcakes! By the way, what is the currency rate of pounds to dollars?

Thanks for your entry to the contest. Hugs, Patricia
