Asthenophobia

I am standing on the solid, hard floor

although it is rock-solid, I feel this terribly uncomfortable feeling inside of me

It threatens to make me lose consciousness

yes, it is asthenophobia

my very being shivers as the hair on the back of my neck stands on end

the world is spinning like it is being tossed inside a tornado

My breathing becomes abnormal...

veins in my temple begin throbbing

they turn purple and little do I know that I become very pale too

Everything around me suddenly turns yellowish and I know it has struck me once again...

I absolutely hate the feeling

one in which I have completely lost all control of my body and my subconscious mind takes over

I begin walking like a mad-man with heavy footsteps like those of a dozen elephants put together

And finally my body gives in

I lay sprawled on the floor

          broken out in cold sweat

Author notes

it is about my fear of weakness/ fainting which I have. It happens quite often and I feel somewhat helpless when it does occur

Hmmm interesting fear, I don't think I've heard of it before, but it's very relatable considering I don't think anyone feels pleasant when weak or dizzy. I know that's one reason why I wont drink much, as I begin to feel the ground move and it scares me half rigid.

Like a few of the other pieces in the contest yours gives the reader the feeling of being there and having those feelings. This is going to be heard to pick a winner for. Thank you for entering my contest and good luck.

This is such a very well expressed piece - allowing the reader to have a better understanding of this phobia. Although I do not technically have any phobias (none diagnosed anyway), I have a severe people anxiety - which makes me get light-headed, nervous, and hot flashes; when in a large crowd unexpectedly. It is out of my control, as I can certainly understand the awkwarness when you have no control. Best wishes!

Woah...the symptoms are bad! I liked the flow, and the whole piece is just a little too wordy and rambly....if you know what I mean, but overall, I liked the way you decribed all your feelings. It was amazing and beautifully written. I never had this phobia or any great phobias yet that I have to discover. Good luck in the contest!!

Wow! this has to be horrible, I have several phobias, so I can relate. I hate to look up the word, but still didn't find it. So I appreciate the explanation. Great write. Good luck in the contest.
