We both can’t feel, and we are feeling
we are dreaming, dreaming the same dream
one side, the other, of the whole,
yin and yang;
we are spiritual.
Is this really happening?
How is it that
we are exactly the same?
Exactly, so close.
It feels like a book.
A fairy tale of two princesses
(our wings no longer bleed)--
is the prince really working stage crew now
or are we just ignoring him for now?
And we are, we are the red-haired twins
of Anne Rice
similar but with two names.
Is it wrong to love your twin?
We are connected
somehow
this isn’t real.
Is there some divine power here?
I am pixels.
(Could she be an alien?)
Are we lying?
Is she just a shadow of some schizophrenic mind
of mine?
I don’t know.
I don’t know.
But like two black gloves--
soul mates?
or twins?--
one is right, one is left;
and something perfect--like a string
pulls us together.

I wrote this the night my girlfriend told me that she loved me. I had no idea how I felt--or rather, I was denying my heart, and just going with my head--and this poem reflects the confusion and uncertainty and fears that I had to try to tune out that night to figure out how I really felt.
