Met her on a bus ride
Took the long way there
Called me melancholy
Said I didn’t care
Tell me where I’m going,
Told her with a smile
Just get off when I do -
Go the extra mile
Stepped off in a puddle
Leaned upon the sign
Asked her for directions
Offered me some wine
Merlot in the morning
Sidewalk on the street
Came without a warning
Someone else’s feet
Just a chance encounter
Gamble with no plan
Merlot in the morning
On the other hand
What’s a girl to do, sir
Save to ride the bus
Searching for the future
Right in front of us
Wet sox on the pavement
Sign of times to come
Winter in the city
Twenty toes, all numb
Caught the bus returning
Found a seat in back
Lying on the armrest
Lonely paper sack
Someone left a moment
Someone on the go
Message in a paper sack
ninety-six merlot
Met her in the morning
Homebound, headed back
Came without a warning
Lesson in a sack
Just a chance surrender
Gamble with no plan
Merlot in the morning
On the other hand

Incredible Imagery & Emotion
What can I say about any poem written by the master's hand? The page could not hold all the positive adjectives to describe the exquisite talent you possess: God-given and you know it, a blessing you use well.
It was as though I were sitting on that bus, nearby watching you, could even smell the scent of Merlow; yet, over all, the emotion was quite melancoly, a sadness permeating throughout. Seems I recall that sadness within you, dear brother.
As always, it is such a devine pleasure to read your awesome pieces. Each time I feel as though I have spent a moment within the master's presence and each time I learn something I can keep forever.
Much love and hugs, SisBon

Hey kid. Long time, four years or more, since we last traded comments. I really like this piece, your imagery is always unexpected but perfect. -
As always you capture everyone's mind and swallow them whole taking them on a ride to places not thought of and unknown!!!
Sing song is what I thought of while reading this... It made me smile.
WELL DONE! Like others I cannot wait to read what you come up with next.

Merlot in the morning
and twenty frozen toes?
Isn't 'cold hands, warm heart'
the way the story goes?
LOL... Loved reading this! -
I like this. It doesn't try in any pretentious way to say anything brilliant, but in its simple, unassuming, blatantly honest and nonjudgmental way it simply describes a man and a woman sharing some love just for the hell of it - and to pass the time. Good job! - oce

Good grief, I don't know what the melody is but you have written a very fine song here. I hope that does not offend you. This is so much like a song that would just grab the listener that I could not resist but compare it to that. I am low on points and out of applause men or you would just nail the night down for me.
