From the Ashes

How shall I begin?
With history, legend, or song?
What is right and what is wrong?
Caliarum de havoch manseia...

Shall history be circular?
Or everafter linear?
And how shall I define
Coerum nasevus coline?

Is legend same as myth?
Or is it yet the pith
of the phrase immortal
Shalorta cul dasfortal?

What is song? What is tune?
Only the remnant of an ancient rune
that, so far, readeth thus:
ecolunt omnibus.

How shall I then this epic end?
With laughter, birth, or death, my friend?
By now I seem to think that
Morbus omnia vincat.

Is that right or is that wrong?
Who could ever live that long
to tell me the wisdom of the ages?
Only the ashes that once were pages.

Author notes

Most of the last phrases are gibberish, but the last 'morbus omnia vincat' phrase means 'death conquers all'. It's a play on 'love conquers all'. This is about a new civilization trying to be born from the ashes of an old one. They can't understand the writings or thoughts of the old one(the gibberish). So they have to define everything all over again.
