Waiting

I stretch my arms out
And try to reach
Trying just to get a grasp
On the reality that we live

I try to reach further
Trying to grab a little piece
Of what I thought made perfect sense

Staring at the sky, the clouds part
Beams from the sun hit me in the face
And I die a little inside

None of this is real
Its all a picture projected on a wall
We happen to believe that it is moving
When all it is, is death standing still

Waiting to be taken by the inevitable
Waiting to be accepted by the masses
Waiting to be forgiven of all sin
Waiting and fearing what we all ready know

Ignorance causes blindness
Tolerance causes acceptance
But alas we choose to hate

We hate together and fear each other
We fear the hatred and project it just the same
As the picture sits on the wall
and as supposed enemies fall
We hate...

As the number of victims rises
As the tolerance sets in
As the enemies become friends
Together hand in hand
We wait...

Author notes

This came to me while thinking about the state of the world and how it has a chance to get better as long as we accept eachothers differences and stop fearing them.

    well written!!!!

This is a deep poem. I get what you are trying to say here but it is not likely to happen Because many believe to accept differences such as lifestyles and spiritual beliefs is to condone them or endorse them, so to speak. It would be a perfect world but I do not wish to be blinded by what we think would be a perfect world and miss out on the truth. That's what it comes down to is the truth. Many have many oppinions on what that truth is, but there is only one truth to me and I'll not go into it at thr risk of this becoming a controversy. But each believes their truth is the truth therefore there will never be a world where there is tolerance and acceptance until the real truth is made known to all the world...........................Toni
