I Salute These Moments

Bittersweet experience it was saying goodnight on the phone...
I sense the longing...
I sense the convoluted roller coaster emotions...
is that a red stop light flashing?
or
is that an amber caution light?
hard to tell sometimes...
push, pull, stop, go...
yes.... oh yes!
ah... but maybe no
it's never totally clear,
we have to re-learn to trust again,
and that takes time
and alas,
patience,
baby steps.

Wishing right now we could be back at Yani's
steeped in conversation,
riveted on each other's words...
that magnetic whirlwind that sweeps us into its vortex.
leaving us
spellbound.
teasingly slow
but yet
so absolutely delicious,
savor each moment
for it will only happen once,
before being distilled to a memory.
in the final analysis that moment is really all we have.
I salute these moments.

oh those moments...like mental photographs...to be snapped, stored and cherished...taken out from time to time and enjoyed again...what craft to be able to get us to share in yours

    thank you for this poem

Again, I'm impressed. You certainly a modern writer and I felt empathy reading this (was I at that bar it sure felt so) You will probably encounter a real contrast of critique on your work like I do, the anoraks will hate you but the cool and the restless spirited (thats most of us) will love ya !

I rate your style, its raw, realistic and honestly told and your use of language is imaginative.

reminds me of breath mints... how some can suck them... but others have to chew them

    "savor each moment
for it will only happen once,
before being distilled to a memory"
These are great lines that should be sent postcards or messages to all the future worried souls. And the title stands as a relevant identity to this title.
    Excellent piece.Thanks..

    Masterfully done

I love the way in which this poem cascades down step by step ...

Henri, there is nothing like the music of two minds connecting ... and what better approach than to savour it moment for moment? I also loved these moments being "distilled" to memories ... What a joyous elixir to pour into the goblet of Love ...

    Thank you, Poet.

    Kindest Regards.

    Myra
