Every September I couldn’t wait
For the Melbourne show to open their gates
I’d collect my savings and out the door
By the end of the day, I’d be poor once more
I’d wait at the station to catch the train
Nothing could stop me, not even rain
Where to start? Where to begin?
So much to look at, so much to take in
Start with the rides, round and round I go
Upside down and to and fro
Oh no, I feel queasy, let me off this ride
Turning green but I would try to hold my head up high
Show bags, I needed show bags, a hunting I will go
Lot’s of bargains, lot’s of goodies, I’ll sniff them out you know
Armed with my map, I’ll see what I can see
And choose some of my favourites like Bertie Beetle, Smiths chips, Cadbury or Darrell Lea
Check out the baby animals and have a look around
Wouldn’t want to leave until I was ready to fall down
It was all so worth it, it was just the best!
But by the end of the day I was ready to go home so I could get a good rest.
