as another leaf falls

Missing image
Rising from the wind
on this October morn
are whispers of a ghost…

Eager to be heard
they echo through corridors
of the mind and bring
numbing grayness to the day.

I glimpse the brilliance
you possessed,
tall, strong - virile
quickly blown out
like a candle’s flame,
smoke swirled
seeking escape…

Sanctuary was found,
at least I hope.
I still question your methods
wondering, if peace
could have come
by a different course.

Fate is merciless
and cruel enough by itself
without a helping hand.

Now another year lands
adding to the pile,
much like autumn leaves
which litter the ground.

A day spent in remembrance...
tears mark grief’s return,
as another leaf falls.

That was a beautiful take on the picture. It caught my attention right away, and held it for the duration, and that's saying something considering I bore easily lol j/k.

I liked the mystery, the imagination, and the story-telling all wrapped up into a brillint poetic piece. Thanks for posting your poem, and good luck in the contest.

This is beautiful! When I found this pic, it really hit me hard, and I knew that it would not touch others as it had me. You have done it justice!
As Jazzy already said we can feel the sorrow spilling from your words. My favorite of the titles also inspired you...
    You have touched me sigh~
    Lovely piece!

Dear Legend, I'm afraid to say it is very personal, this week marks the anniversary of my late husbands passing...and yes he took his own life. I was hoping to have a better day today considering it's my birthday, but what can I say, the memory will never fade away completely. Thank God ofr his blessing of Herman in my life, he's here with me sharing my tears. Thank you as ever for your kind thoughts and words of encouragement my friend

Sandi What a sad write this seems But then sad was asked for as one of the options.Am I right in assuming this persons took their own life It reads that way so i hope I have not got it wrong. It almost seems as if this is a personal piece I hope not. A great write as always I have yet to settle on my entry but strangely I have selected this image I just hope i can come somewhere near this on Good luck in the contest
