Tonight is the night where I come around,
observing all the kids that are candy bound.
This is the night that I walk the earth,
just once a year, to see what I can unearth.
Walking around in the darkest of night,
kids all around, running out of fright.
Pumpkins and candy are all I can see,
smelling the night's sweet potpourri.
Laughter and screams fill the air,
as kids enter houses with signs saying "beware".
The night seems so scary, so dark and Erie;
but kids still run, all bright and cheery.
This time only comes once a year,
Hoping to bring some holiday fear.
As the night starts to fade and the sun comes up,
kids lay sleeping, tummy's full of stuff.
Mom's rush around cleaning everything in sight,
for the day's just begun and I'll be back next halloween night.

This gave me a bit of a chill whilst reading it. Then again there is always something eerie about hallowe'en night anyway. The rhyme feels a little forced in a few places but other wise it is well thought out. Good luck and many thanks for entering my contest.
