Immortal tombs lay deep holding past kings
Said to hold a curse to those who invade
Egyptian hearts mummified in festival decay
Treasures surrounding their journeys end
Awaiting arrival of unwelcome to defend
Kings of kings, and eternal fruits of earth
As the unrest of Giza settle down for rebirth
Masters of ceremonial offerings with fresh oil
As guardians take watch among the night's soul
Collections of etchings born into labored walls
Foretelling a future never to be seen by all
Mystical passageways lead to a survival mass
As trampled dirt sits above unforeseen wrath
Fear not for the powers these pyramids hold
For they were meant to rest among the untold

I have always been fascinated by these pyramids, and how the illusive contour was for a purpose for the Egyptians. This was their life, and I see so many invading their tombs. Although, if not for this-we would not have as much understanding as we do about their ways of life then.

Hooray, Giza's status remains unchallenged as it was grandfathered into the New7 and didn't have to compete at all (making is actually EIGHT Wonders.) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070707/ap_on_re_eu/new_seven_wonders
Thanks for being a part of it all

Dear Sabrina
I do loves pyramids as well although I never saw them in real.. just photos or on TV. They have an especial secrets within. Have you read Sinooheh? That book was really great.
Honestly your poem was as great as the subject your wrote on is. I love rhyming poem and I see that you didn’t force it. Afarin to you.
Politeness demands to appreciate you for sharing this with us :-)

You ARE the shiz-ni-bombarella
PJ, Silky, you have outdone yourself! I'm delighted to be able to read, to enjoy, this verse. You have definitely "arrived" to the poetry "scene."
Thanks for the kind words on the haiku for Iohagh's contest.

Thank you for this tribute to the only surviving original ancient wonder of the world; I'm certainly glad you gave it a poetic vote in this contest. Your poem was cryptic and intriguing like the pyramids themselves and left me with more questions than answers: for instance, I wonder what the arrival of the unwelcome is. I also read that they found something there to confirm that they were indeed built as the Kings' resting places... Thank you for coming to the party and please leave this in the contest, at least until the big announcement on 7/7/07 so we can all come back in and celebrate. I have notified the New7Wonders website about these poems and hope to have some visitors to our little dig in the coming months. All the best, ea

HI, Di
and actually just the other day. There was news about The Pyramids Of Giza. If I am correct it was said that something was found there. Don't mark my words upon this. I was merely brushing through, and saw it. But thank you for your kind words. And I do know about the Book Of Dead. Happen to have skimmed around quite a few places, and researched it

I watched the film 'mummy-1&2'.The mystery and magic of those zoombies still captivates the world,it still holds a place as an enthralling wonder of the world.Good style.
A big thumb-ups for hosting the contest,I do not mind the sharing formula you chose. -
Hi, it is still not sure if the Giza pyramids ever held the remains of kings, it is a puzzle yet to be solved, perhaps the pyramids still hold many secrets, if there is a buriel chamber it would be below the structure as all kings were buried below the earth's surface, there are many many theories as to why those 3 pyramids were built, but I will not go into now as it would take hours, their story and that of the ancient Egyptians is one of the most facinating, interesting that so many things about their religion are mirrowed in the Christian religion, including the commandments they had 42 including the ones Christians have, these can be found in the book of the dead, Falkner did a fair translation of the texts of book of the dead. nice write, Di
