Given half a chance, I'd stop to smell the roses!
Lean on my guitar, this natural composer
Would call up a tune from somewhere out of the blue.
Magnificent fingers forming a classical tune.
Given half a chance, perhaps I'd be a poet.
Maybe I could try to write a verse or sonnet!
Would re-invent Shakespeare, the bard at his word.
Magnificent stanza that nobody has heard!
Given half a chance, I could become an artist.
Turps, a brush, a rag, perhaps I'd paint a portrait!
Magnificent colours, I'd steal from the sky.
Efficiently blended with tears from my eyes.
Given half a chance, I'd edit every paper.
Wars cannot be won, perhaps you'll call me later.
Magnificent headlines say read the good news.
My topic is sunshine, walk away from the blues!
But I am who I am, a wife and a grandmother.
Given half a chance, I would not be another.
I found me a footprint related to youth.
A link to the future, so read my good news!
