The sweet simple solace of silence
guards me against the clamor
and chaos of life
to acquire a coveted and quiet calm
hush and be still . . . falling dead silent
and in this absence of sound
quiet your mind and listen
sometimes you can discover
so much more with a static and soundless void
than can be expressed with a simple articulated word
and you may learn while you contemplate that you are
slightly and pleasantly intoxicated with silence

This is a nice piece - but I have to be honest and say that it doesn't speak to me.
I'd like to see a bit more imagery here, something that pops more. Still, like I said nice -
lots of descriptions that seem quite similar to one another... I like the tone of this piece and there is quite a gentle beauty to it... the message is clear, stated quite well... thank you for this entry! good luck to you!

this made me smile...especially the end. great piece. the flow was very well established, which the construction and form helped quite a bit. excellent word choice and imagery as well.

Thought provoking, indeed silence may scream when in despair but when in a state of healing it speaks without speaking in the hush of voice that we need to hear most.End of rambling.Good luck with this.

thanks for reading and your suggestion, I tried the left align and see what you mean, I think it is easier to read as well, so I will leave it to the left, glad you enjoyed the ending, I usually have a hard time ending one of my thoughts, but this one came more natureal
well thanks again and good luck with your contest

Your close here is lovely- like something we may have quoted for the contest itself. I think your poetry would be even stronger left aligned- because it has strength and doesn't have to rely on center alignment to be lovely, or beautiful- or words do that in and of itself.
definitely an asset to our contest.
thank you.

'and in this absence of sound

truly words upon which to contemplate.
The calm feeling of this poem flows with the shape of your lines, they compliment each other in a way that seems to enhance the meaning. A very enjoyable read.
Good luck in the contest
